It is a truth that is hard to imagine in a world devastated by illness and economic insecurity, riven by racism & unrest; but we will get dressed again.

Wars and pandemics are not the same, but they share the same global scale and economic impact. In 2020, fashion is likely to have its answer to the COVID-19 pandemic.We will get dressed again, just like the women who embraced fashion with a boyish flair after the Great War. Designers will have to make fashion relevant again.

No, this is not the end of fashion!!!

Times of great trauma also produce moments of great creativity, as we slowly attempt to process what we have been through. The functional side of that is fashion. After periods of extremes- War , Pandemic and Recession- dress is a way to signal the drawing of a new age. The DIOR NEW LOOK OF 1947, which with its acres of skirts and tiny waists, served as a direct riposte to the privation of WORLD WAR II and the DEPRESSION was literally a new look for a new time.

It is safe to conclude it by saying that,

We will get dressed, not for the anonymity of the hospital or the essential work force, but we will get dressed for both history and human nature.  We will get dressed again!!!
