The End For DPM

The End For DPM

This definitely isn’t a clickbait headline to get your interest, but I have some news to share today.

As some of you already know, I have decided to wind things up for DPM.

It’s with a heavy heart that I write this as it’s been 18 and a bit years, and a decision I didn’t see coming even a little over 3 months ago to be honest when I celebrated 18 years of DPM action.

But it’s one that has to be made for my own sanity, and that of my family too.

I’ve basically become physically and mentally exhausted.

The early starts.

The lack of sleep sometimes as a result of that (and sometimes struggling to sleep during the night), the travel here, there and everywhere every day.

The toll it has taken on my body.

The ins and outs of running a business.

And most of all, I’m tired of my kids having to sometimes deal with a shorter fuse in the afternoons cause of all the above.

It’s not who I want to be.

It definitely isn’t an easy decision to make in one way, but in another way it is really easy to make when it comes down to putting my family first.

The extra (and paid) holidays that come with a real job definitely will help too.

The funny thing is I always used to joke that I was pretty much unemployable after working for myself for this long but I’ve since come to see that a lot of skills are transferable.

I’m excited about a new opportunity that I have been given that’s a lot closer to home and without everything that running a small business in this day and age comes with.

And I guess going and getting a real job that is in a totally different field is something that can set me up for the next 20 years of my working life.

I just feel like I need a break from the fitness industry.

It was fun while it lasted, but lately the fun isn’t making up for the downsides that come with it all.

There’s definitely some things I’ll miss (the DPMers), but the early alarms, the backend side of things and the driving 80-100km each day won’t be one of them.

The last day of sessions will be Thursday Feb 29.

There’s obviously a bit that has to be worked out before then and I’ll be in touch with those it’ll effect in the next week or so.

As for the future of these messages for the next few weeks, I haven’t decided yet.

If I feel I’ve got something to add that might help your day I guess I’ll send something out.

But the website and emails and all that will come down towards the end of the month.

I definitely won’t miss the endless bloody spam messages from every Tom, Dick and Harry who pretend they’re in Melbourne while plugging their scammy seo stuff from some other country that’s for sure.

Cheers,

Daniel
