The End of 3rd Party Cookies set to kill the affiliate model

Google Ads have been a mainstay for advertisers and marketers since their inception in the early 2000’s. Google Ads currently rely on 3rd party cookies to re-target ads towards users and here is how it works:
Let’s say that you are shopping around for firewalls and you go to three separate vendors websites and check out their offerings. Over the next week or two, every time you visit any website that is serving Google Ads, you see ads for other Firewall companies that you may not have looked at.
Do you think that’s a coincidence?
The reason this happens is because Google has placed a 3rd party cookie on your machine from the previous visits to let Google know that they are the types of ads that will be likely interesting to you.
Every website that you visit is creating a trail of breadcrumbs and feeding that back to Google and other ad networks without you knowing about it.
So what is the problem?
Your ads will no longer be able to be re-targeted via ad networks and social media will become the main platform for getting your name out there.
The problem is that 3rd party cookies are about to be banned. This is how you get your ads in front of the right eyes. Ads will no longer be as targeted as they were in a 3rd party cookie world.
Another industry that relies heavily on 3rd party cookies is the affiliate industry.
Affiliates place links on their websites that once clicked, creates a cookie on the viewers machine so the affiliate can be paid out on any purchases attributable to the affiliates website.
Companies that handle affiliates this way will have to change their way of working so that they stay within the law.

The way to deal with 3rd party cookies
If you are a vendor that relies on 3rd party cookies for re-targeting and affiliate tracking, there is another way to do it.
At Channelyze we keep everything within the platform so that no cookies are required to track anything.
If an affiliate or referral partner uses a piece of content, they use that content within the Channelyze platform itself and that is exactly what the prospect is viewing.
This enables complete tracking of views, read completion, leads attributed and who those leads were generated by.
Content doesn’t have to be created by affiliates anymore and you can run the campaigns that you create through all of your referral and affiliate partner accounts to their own social media which bypasses the need for paid advertising.
If you have 100 partners enrolled into your campaigns via Channelyze, it’s the equivalent of spending $10k a month in advertising costs as long as those partners are actively pushing the content that Channelyze is feeding to their social media.
The good news
We saw this coming a while ago. The traditional way of handling affiliates and referrals is about to become a lot more difficult.
We have built the reffiliate system to handle these upcoming changes and we provide it for free for up to 25 partners in your system.
You can turn any of your contacts into a referral partner by adding them into your database which enables them to post your content directly to their own social media account en masse.
Having content provided by Channelyze via Channelyze generated landing pages, assets and social campaigns avoids the need for the 3rd party cookies.
