We are all used to starting the new year with resolutions, mostly to improve ourselves whether it is to exercise more, eat better, quit smoking or maybe learn something new. Alas, sadly most resolutions are broken within the first month and then we go back to the "status quo" that we accept on a daily basis. That personal "evolution and revolution" we so wanted to start the new year with gets shoved to the back of our brain and we don't change.
Change takes effort and discipline. How you change depends on how you "lead" and "talk" to yourself and others around you. The "attitude" of your communication and leadership can be a game-changer or can continue to contribute to life staying stagnant or (and worst of all) spread negative energy wherever you go. If you are a constant complainer, criticising everybody and everything or if you are given to sarcastic and mean rejoinders in conversation - you are a "toxin" and contaminate yourself and the environment you live and work in.
Most people don't start out that way, but when things get hard, you don't get what you think you should get - at work or in a personal relationship - unfortunately, the reaction is often to hit back, to shame and to blame. In other words, you become poison.
That's why I am suggesting that you start right now and spend the rest of December becoming disciplined in the power of a positive life-style. It doesn't cost anything, you don't have to buy a membership, there are no pills....it's all about you and how you react to things. It means you get up each day and push negative thoughts out of your head and replace them with good ones...and you do it all day long, every day until December 31st - and then reset for the next month...and the month after...and the month after..
Instead of complaining to yourself or others become solution-oriented. Most importantly, be in the present. because this is where every significant thing happens. Don't live in the morass of past defeats or losses, that's over with. Don't worry about what bad may happen, it hasn't happened yet - and may never happen. Be in the "here and now" because this moment is the teacher and the guide.
Many psychologists and change-coaches have done studies that show that if you change your attitude to a positive one for 21 days in a row, you will change the way your brain works, and the way your mind thinks. You become less depressed, your serotonin levels rise and you become empowered to make the change you have to, with less effort, more conviction, more energy and most importantly, more success.
