Encouragement in facing new frontiers
Here, deep in the valley, we cannot see whole sunsets, merely the suggestion of the setting sun on the horizon.
Yet, as I reflected on the next stanza in John O’Donohue’s Blessing For Presence, it caught my eye with a question.
Because even when I don’t know what is coming next, it does matter which direction I face.
Receive encouragement when new frontiers beckon.
For me, this is looking west.
And what beckons me is a new season, not returning eastwards where I came from.
What direction are you facing?
Find your travelling companions and keep walking.
Pause. See differently. Re-story…
~ John O’Donohue’s poem, For Presence, is from Benedictus: A Book of Blessings, Bantam Press, 2007. For the full text, see Monday’s post: Being accompanied by a blessing for presence.
