Encourage one another
In 1 Thessalonians 5:11, we read, "Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up ..." In 2 Corinthians 13:11, we read, "... encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace." In Hebrews 3:13, we read, "... encourage one another daily ..."
Encouragement is important because as John 16:33 warns, in this world, we will experience trouble.
Here are 2 ways the Bible suggests we can encourage and build up one another:
- Make it a point to be present for your colleagues. Let your colleagues know they can count on you through thick and thin. When they endure challenges, be with them for support, listen attentively to them, and offer to help them shoulder their workload. When they feel like criticism, deadlines, and other burdens are pulling them under, do what you can to help them through. (Isaiah 43:2)
- Make it a point to be kind and to speak kindly to your colleagues. Some of us have mastered the art of hiding our pain, and our colleagues may not know we are hurting inside or distracted by problems in our lives. Sometimes all another person needs to persist is to see a smiling face or to hear a gentle word. Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. (Proverbs 16:24)
