Continuation…
All these happened during the lockdown. The lockdown was really really long. If you need a reminder you can watch DEATH TO 2020, one major historic moment that movie failed to make reference to was the #ENDSARS protest in Nigeria .
Please read the intro from the first article so you can understand the outro

THE YEAR EARTH CHANGED (Cont’d)
Few members were given permission to stay in school and they worked tirelessly to tidy the work that could not be done virtually. Scripts were recorded over and over again to perfection, evidence of impact made were collated, video editing was done, a couple of team stalking happened and soon the National Competition was on our screen.
We watched cheered and were all anxious to know the winning teams from various challenges and the main competition itself. Personally, I enjoyed the presentation from Enactus TASUED. This was the year the Enactus team from ABU did not compete. Overall, the presentations were not the most creative but there was an improvement in the classic shouting style while presenting. Sending hugs to the team from Enugu State University. (To find why, you can watch their presentation). The soundtrack this year was a classic Enactus Nigeria soundtrack with Flavour’s “POWER TO WIN” and Timi Dakolo’s “GREAT NATION” on repeat.

The highlight of my first Enactus Nigeria National Competition will be the twitter polls. The Covenant University Community is connected and super supportive. Although the poll was just banter, the link was shared on literally all the group chats and official announcements were made from the office of the head of student extracurricular activities. On some group chats this is what the captions looked like “Please vote for Enactus Covenant University to win the 2020 National Competition”. E shock me! When did the Enactus National Competition become a voting pageantry? Thank God we won the polls and the nationals that year. I am not sure of the explanation we would have given the management and our diligent voters. We also cane third in the Act Foundation
Shout out to the Covenant University Twitter community.

Sadly, the world cup was virtually. I was really looking forward to eating Dutch scones in Netherlands??. On the bright side there was no visa drama ??. The highlights of the first Enactus Virtual world cup for me are, watching myself at the opening ceremony when the Race for Climate Action was announced ??, watching Joseph speak at the world cup?? and having conversations with Mr. Rapheal and some of my Enactus friends on some changes we could implement from the world cup in my country ??. The 77seconds film festival was beautiful although I was sad that no Nigerian team applied, not even my team ??. ?During the 2019 World cup we left the competition at the opening stage. This year, things were different, and we made it to the Semi-finals. Growth! ???? Who knows what will happen when next we decide to compete?

THE END OF THE BEGINNING
The 2020/2021 academic session was different, recruitment was done, I was appointed as General Secretary of my team. Just a quick tip, if your team is so big and getting difficult to manage you don’t need to do a classic recruitment, you can try a skill based recruitment. Recruit the skills you need on your team ??. The new year started on a great note. We were invited to the Vice Chancellors office where we were told that we won an award The International Sustainable Campus Network Award in the Whole Systems Approach??.

After the first semester we had a bootcamp although it was one of the shortest bootcamps for certain reasons. It was during this bootcamp that my school hosted the Western Region edition of the Science and Technology Innovation Chalenge STIC competition, organized by Enactus Nigeria in partnership with the Nigeria Content Development Management Board NCDMB. Coincidentally, the event was held on my birthday ????. Later, that evening I had a surprise birthday party, Thank you!??

?I was also opportune to attend a webinar with UNDP and other members of the Enactus Nigeria Community where we were informed of the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme and asked for feedback. The highlight of my office as General Secretary asides administrative responsibilities ?would be the launch of the Climfact series ???? on the Enactus Covenant University Instagram and LinkedIn pages. ?

The Enactus National Competition was also virtual. However, for reasons best known by the team we decided not to compete. The presentations were beautiful, there was a lot of growth compared to what I met four years ago. We also had some new teams present. The Enactus team from TASUED won and they represented Nigeria at the Virtual Enactus world cup ceremony where they qualified to the semi-final round ??????.

My journey as an Enactus student was beautiful. Should you join Enactus??? Well, that is entirely up to you. I was an Enactus student, I am an alumnus, while the future remains a mystery this story will be incomplete if I forget to mention one person.
In 2021, I was opportune to serve as a panelist at the Enactus National Competition. (I know I mentioned this in the first article, repetition is for emphasis). I shared a bit on my volunteering experiences as an Enactus Student.?The first time I found out I was going to be a panelist I was happy, and I was sad because the one person that I would have loved to have on that panel with me asides Tomi was not there, James. During the 2020 Enactus Virtual Competition, while Joseph was speaking. We spoke about how beautiful it will be to have a session either during the Enactus Nigeria Leadership Conference or the Nigeria Nationals to have a panelist session with Enactus Students and not just the classic guest speakers. I am happy it finally happened and grateful that I was a part of it.

(Formula 1 theme by Brian Tyler plays in the background)
… Yes, I do; …it is our collective and individual responsibility to preserve and tend to the world in which we all live”; … we discovered that souls are perishing; … ask the recent news headlines, with about 1,800 civilians killed in the Russian-Ukraine war; This certainly should not be normal!
