Enabling Zero Waste: April Roundup

Enabling Zero Waste: April Roundup

The sun was scorching this April - constantly reminding us of climate change and heat strokes! And as determined we are on cooling the planet with our composting, so are many others whom we had the pleasure of meeting and working together with.

Awareness is the key

While we speak about waste management even in our sleep, we play games - and get people to quantify the waste they generate. Visualising this waste for many is a first, and associates from Hitachi Vantara and Workday enjoyed in their awareness sessions.

Thanks to Milind Kale and Manjula Muthukrishnan for inviting us and giving the opportunity to present our thoughts, as well as inspire associates to start individual and community action.

We're grateful to have spread the message to over 400 people collectively at both organisations.

Developing the City with Developers

As Pune's urbanisation increases, we realise the immense importance of working with builders and developers to solve the waste problem. A unique project for us, as we set up composting for Pride Purple Group thanks to the vision and efforts by Nidhi Jain and her team led by GulamNabi Kumthe .

The camp houses more than 3,000 workers who come from all parts of the country. Our facility uses minimal energy, optimises composting with microbes from INORA - Institute of Natural Organic Agriculture . At this site, we provide a daily service to gather the kitchen waste, compost it day after day, making sure Pride World City achieves its goal of being Zero Waste. The camp itself is truly unique, with facilities for health care, crèche and education for the workers’ kids, clean and neat surroundings, grocery shopping, cricket grounds and play areas and emergency healthcare. Our project adds to the uniqueness of this labour camp.

With Mahindra Lifespaces Pune at their Annual Stakeholders meet to do better sustainably, we had the opportunity to present our work.

We shared the space with Poonam Bir Kasturi from Daily Dump , Shamita Chaudhary from Malba Project and Nitin Dubey Vasishtha from CFlo World Limited

Space is always a crunch : More so for waste

We always hear this line - There's no space for composting! How can we compost, even if we want to. Here's a story of how we helped Kunal Icon, a prime society in PCMC compost their 600+ kg of waste everyday for the last 6 years.

Do you also live in a society or know of a society We had to look beyond, and we converted Garbage Chute rooms to Composting rooms.

Showcase: Waste and Sustainability

ProEarth is part of the TechnoServe Accelerator Greenr, and we had the opportunity to meet investors and other like minded green businesses at Bombay.

Thanks to the support from many organisations ANDE South Asia , IKEA Foundation Visa , Upaya Social Ventures for making this event a success. It was great to see other businesses we also knew about Vaayu Biogas , RUR GREENLIFE PRIVATE LIMITED among many others.

Supporting Green Businesses

Parama Naturals is a green business focused on skincare and wellness.

In the spirit of Earth Day, Hamsa Iyer and Geeta Prakash engage in a cozy fireside dialogue, delving into the dynamic evolution of sustainability within their respective enterprises.

Tune into their discussion as they traverse the realms of product/service integration, affordability considerations, and the intrinsic imperative of embodying eco-consciousness within their business ethos.

As we draw to a close this April, let's reflect on the invaluable insights shared throughout this newsletter. Let's continue to champion eco-friendly practices, nurture collaboration, and inspire positive change within our professional spheres. Together, we can make a lasting impact on our planet and future generations. Thank you for your engagement and dedication to creating a more sustainable world.
