Enabling Fashion Enterprise - Our Journey to Idozi
Working with Creatives and Fashion designers through the years has allowed us to build our services organically around the needs of the young and emerging talents in the sector.
First, we identified the need for equipment support among young talented designers, and we created Nigeria's first co-sewing space to meet that need. Then we created the Fashion Acceleration Program and Fashion Business Roadmap service, to help these designers build their knowledge of the business of fashion so that they can scale their crafts.
Then we started to witness the sprouting of new, vibrant, and formidable brands, from among these young talents whom we work with at the hub, and as it is often said, "the only reward for a job well done, is more work"; our success with the Equipment Support and Capacity Building Programs only pointed us to the fact that these deserving creatives need to be connected to the right markets, and immediately, we flagged off a Market Access solution; establishing partnerships with concept stores in Europe and other parts of Africa, and opening opportunities to help our designers sell globally.
Then, we debuted at our very first international fashion shows; taking 7 women-owned fashion brands from Nigeria, to exhibit at the AFRICA SOURCING AND FASHION WEEK (ASFW)in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 2019.
From our Ethiopia Experience, it was clear that we had to create a more robust solution, to connect Africa's best in Fashion, Design, and Art, to a ready global audience, and this led to the founding of Idozi Collective. Idozi, meaning 'Allure' in Igbo Language, was created to bridge the gap between African talent and discerning global markets who value technique and craftsmanship; in a collective, curated for this specific taste via a multi-purpose retail channel.
Idozi is set to change the way African Fashion is seen and appreciated globally, providing a robust platform for talented African Designers to sell their craft to a global audience for the right price, online and offline.
