Enable Microsoft Loop for your users

Loop is finally here in public preview - so what is Loop.

To use MS wording - Microsoft Loop is?a transformative co-creation experience that brings together teams, content and tasks across your tools and devices.

In other words, loop can break down walls between apps, tools and devices -enabling your users to be more efficient when creating or organizing content.

In Arkimentum we have been testing loop for some time with great results, its enabling our consultants to share task, ideas, items and take notes seamless and at the same time - really cool.

So how to get started - if you try to go to loop.microsoft.com you will probably meet this page:

So what to do.

Loop can be enabled either by powershell or by using https://config.office.com to set a policy.

Lets go ahead and create a policy for Loop.

Before you start you need to make sure you have a Azure security group available to scope the policy.

Go to the customization part in the config portal:

First name the policy

Then choose which group to limit the app to

There are 3 different settings available to control loop experience

  • For?Create and view Loop files in Microsoft apps that support Loop
  • Enabled: Loop experience is available to users.
  • Disabled: Loop experience is NOT available to users.
  • Not configured: Loop experience is available to users.
  • For?Create and view Loop files in Outlook
  • Enabled: Loop experience is available to users.
  • Disabled: Loop experience is NOT available to users.
  • Not configured: Loop experience is available to users.
  • For?Create and view Loop files in Loop
  • Enabled: Loop app is available to users.
  • Disabled: Loop app is NOT available to users.
  • Not configured: Loop app is NOT available to users. (Loop during Public Preview is Opt-in by default)

So lets enable these 3 settings.

Wait a while :)

  • If there were existing policy configurations prior to the change, then it will take?90 mins?for the change to go through
  • If there were no policy configurations prior to the change then it will take?24 hours for the change to work.
