App benchmark & pricing
Benchmark of charging apps
The recent charging app test by AUTO BILD highlights the top 15 providers, including car manufacturers and independent services. Mercedes-Benz AG leads among manufacturers, while ADAC E-Charge/EnBW is the top independent provider.
The study evaluates network size, app functionality, user-friendliness, and cost. Mercedes and ADAC stand out for their excellent services and pricing, with EWE Go GmbH offering the cheapest rates.
The new partnership between ADAC and Aral pulse led to criticism of the new pricing in the comments section of an electrive.net news article.
Charging network size KPI: Still relevant?
The AUTO BILD test also sparked an interesting conversation about the value of expanding the charging network size further as a measure of differentiation between industry experts on LinkedIn.

Payment & Roaming
Future of EV Payments: Direct or Through eMSPs?
Another debate (on LinkedIn) on whether direct payment solutions like ev-pay will replace eMSPs and roaming is heating up.
While direct payments might increase CPO control and competition, it may not reduce EV driver costs due to efficient existing systems.
