Empty your brain to enjoy right now

This article featured in Issue #32 of my fortnightly newsletter, sent on September 17th, 2021. If you're interested in becoming more efficient, productive and organised in your day-to-day work and life, sign up?here.

If you’re anything like me, having a lot on your plate equals constantly thinking about all the things you need to do. And that makes it super hard to focus on anything.?

Your brain feels so full and so busy remembering and reminding you about everything you should be doing, there’s no space for anything else. It’s exhausting and steals your attention away from enjoying the present moment.

There’s a really simple thing I do to combat this.?

A brain dump.

Grab a pen and paper and just start dumping everything that is in your head onto the page. Keep going until you run out of things to write. You’ll find it’s kind of like peeling an onion. You’ll keep uncovering more and more layers of things your brain has been trying to remember.

Once you’re done, you’ll discover the almost instant relief and peace that comes from having an empty brain and a written record of everything you have to do. And your brain will have space to enjoy whatever you’re doing right now.
