Day 2 of the EmpowHER Junior (EJ) 2024 immersion visit was all about sustainable style and social impact! We took our young changemakers to Rekriti, a local brand that champions upcycled products. This visit was designed to ignite their creativity and empower them to think critically about fashion's environmental footprint and the potential for positive change.
Redefining Fashion with Upcycled Products
Rekriti's philosophy of transforming discarded materials into stunning and functional products resonated deeply with our EJ participants. The day began with a warm welcome from the Rekriti team, who introduced the brand's story and its dedication to sustainable fashion practices.
Our changemakers were then taken on a fascinating tour of the Rekriti workshop. They witnessed the upcycling process firsthand, from the meticulous selection of discarded materials to their transformation into beautiful bags, accessories, and many other customizable options. This interactive experience allowed them to see the potential for creativity and innovation.
Empowering the Changemakers
Following the tour, the EJ 2024 changemakers engaged in a lively discussion with Rekriti’s Co-founder Nasana Bajracharya. They explored the challenges and opportunities associated with upcycled fashion and learned about the brand's social impact initiatives. This exchange of ideas empowered our changemakers to envision their role in promoting sustainable practices within their communities.
Conclusion
Day 2 of the EJ 2024 immersion visit at Rekriti was a resounding success. Our changemakers were inspired by the brand's commitment to sustainability and empowered to become advocates for eco-conscious fashion choices. The experience not only sparked their creativity but also ignited a passion for making a positive difference in the world.
