Truth be told, life is tough.
You are either going through one tough challenge right now, just got out of one or are about to go into one and probably don’t know it yet.
No matter how wise or well off you are, wealthy and healthy, productive and profitable, liked or disliked, everyone, that is everyone alive, is bound to go through tough times now and then.
It was Jesus Christ who said so bluntly that “In this world, we will have tribulations”, which means at this very moment, some people are going through a major setback, misfortune, hardship, anxiety, depression, affliction, trial, burden, tragedy, trauma, distress, misery, hardship, travels, agony, etc.
It means some marriages are about to fail or just failed, some people just lost their jobs due to the economic downturn; the homes of some people have just been foreclosed or about to due to financial hardship; some people are going through excruciating health challenges and may have even been moved to palliative care in the hospital waiting to die, and so forth.
While these are not often what we wish to hear, they are the reality of life and if you haven’t been beaten by life, betrayed by loved ones, disappointed in the outcome of some relationships, and had your hope in people, places, things and situations dashed, then you are a minor. If anything can ignite our spirit of gratitude, it is the realization that many people are in way worse situations than we can ever be.
After over five decades on earth, with most of my years interacting with people in over 300 cities worldwide and from a background that is diverse ethnically, religiously, politically, socioeconomically and in other aspects of diversity, I have learned that our greatest achievements in life are not what many people spend their lives pursuing.
Certainly, it is neither the impressive academic heights of many nor the most desirable financial status that can afford us whatever we want, when we want it, where we want it and how we want it. It is not how many people love or praise us or anything of these sorts but rather the discovery of purpose.
The greatest achievement is to eventually discover why you were created, identify and maximize your gifts and talents and then develop yourself enough to become one with your spirit and the Spirit of God who created you with a significant purpose, a divine assignment that will strengthen your legacy.

Your greatest achievement is to transform yourself into a blessing so you can become a blessing to others, be an example in life, leadership and love and help to ignite the spirit of leadership and social justice in others.
Interestingly, these empowering philosophies are not taught in conventional schools and unfortunately, many parents and guardians are unable to guide their children accordingly since they are mostly going through life without purpose as well. In the words of Mark Twain, "The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why."
Therefore, the next three Empowerment Sundays will be focused on how to discover, clarify or strengthen your purpose in life, how to maximize and monetize your gifts and talents, and how to transform your purpose into a generational legacy.
Other things to be discussed include psycho-spiritual tips, tools and techniques to conquer fear, beat procrastination and generate the contagious passion that is required to achieve greater heights, shatter barriers and pave way for the generations yet unborn.
A purpose-driven life is the height of greatness, the peak of fulfillment, that catalyst for massive impact in life.
A purpose-driven life is required to be productive at work, profitable in business and effective in leadership. In fact, life without meaning is meaningless and life without purpose is purposeless.
According to my late friend, Dr. Myles Munroe, “The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but life without purpose.” To join this Empowerment Sunday series, click here.
