Empowerment and Awareness: Turning the Tide on Ovarian Cancer this International Women's Day

On International Women’s Day we want to highlight one of the women’s cancers that we have the power to radically change the outcomes for.? Every year, 7,000 women in the UK find themselves facing the challenge of being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. But there is hope, if we catch ovarian cancer early, nine out of ten women can beat it. That’s an opportunity we can’t overlook!

Awareness is the first step toward empowerment. Surprisingly, many believe that ovarian cancer symptoms only show up later on, but that’s not the case, and it's time to spread the word far and wide. We hear time and time again of women waiting more than three months after visiting their GP to get diagnosed, with many finding out through emergency visits. We can change this story.

Ovarian cancer has been called a silent killer, but it's time to break the silence. Symptoms such as persistent bloating, stomach discomfort, feeling full quickly, or changes in bathroom habits are your body’s way of telling you something isn’t quite right. It's all about listening and taking action.

As we come together for International Women's Day, let's make a pledge for health equality and support each other in understanding our bodies better. By boosting our collective awareness and encouraging our friends, mothers, sisters, and daughters to seek advice for any worrying symptoms, we’re not just caring for each other; we’re saving lives.

Remember, your health is precious. If something feels off, speak up. Your body will thank you for it.

And remember, you're not alone on this journey. Organisations like Target Ovarian Cancer and The Eve Appeal are here to support you every step of the way with resources, guidance, and open hearts.

Let’s keep the conversation going and make this International Women's Day a turning point for women’s health. Together, we’re unstoppable!

Thank you for sharing an important message and raising awareness on International Women's Day and also in Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month! ??
