Darul Kheir Community Center and Mountain of Mercy have taken a remarkable step toward empowering women in the Urban Informal Settlements.

The two organizations held the opening ceremony for a Tailoring Training Centre at Mukuru Kwa Reuben, On 01/06/2024 which was graced by Hon. Dekow Mohamed- the Member of Parliament for Garissa Township. It was a celebration of resilience, determination, and unity.

Women from the larger Mukuru community gathered to witness the birth of this transformative centre. Their smiles radiated hope, with their hands ready to stitch dreams into reality.

The newly opened Tailoring Training Centre is not just a physical space- it's a beacon of hope, skill development, and positive change.

The centre will offer a comprehensive tailoring course, ensuring that women gain expertise in cutting, stitching, and designing reusable menstrual pads. Eco-Friendly Reusable Menstrual Pads??One of the most impactful aspects of this project is the focus on creating reusable menstrual pads. These pads will be locally produced, using eco-friendly materials sourced from the community itself. No longer will they have to face discomfort or health risks due to inadequate menstrual products.
