The All India Survey on Higher Education Report (2020) indicates an increase in women’s enrollment in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as a field of study, entrepreneurship by women in India has stagnated. Women own only 20% of all enterprises in India. 10% to 30% of enterprises registered as women-owned are often not run by women. RBI survey of 1,246 startups finds only females founded 5.9% of the participating startups in comparison to 55.5% founded by only male founders.?

As per the National CSR data , the total CSR spend for the FY 2022-20223 in the domain of women empowerment has been about 253.86 crore. Cultural norms and societal attitudes can discourage women from pursuing entrepreneurship, while generic support programs may not meet their unique needs.
