Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders: Announcing our new partnership with Catalyse Change Mentoring Programme for Underrepresented Young Women

Fit for Purpose exists to help businesses lead through purpose, accelerating the behaviours and actions that enable positive social and environmental impact. As part of this mission lies a commitment to supporting young talent, fostering diversity, and championing inclusivity within the sustainability and purposeful business sphere.

Therefore, we are delighted to be able to extend our existing support for Catalyse Change, a not-for-profit whose mission is to provide young women and non-binary changemakers with the knowledge, skills, confidence, and connection they need to pursue sustainable careers. ?

Investing in Tomorrow’s Leaders

Recognising the transformative power of young, passionate minds eager to shape a more sustainable future, Fit for Purpose is dedicated to providing mentorship and internship opportunities for individuals seeking to build expertise in the sustainability sector. Through our internship program and mentoring initiatives, we hope to empower diverse talents to thrive in the sustainability space.

Aligning Purpose with Impact

At Fit for Purpose, diversity and inclusion are an integral commitment to our Purpose Strategy. We strive to mirror the diverse fabric of the communities that we serve, both within our team as well as in terms of bringing diverse representation to the work we deliver for our clients.

We actively engage with female and minority-owned businesses in our supply chain to foster economic empowerment and equitable opportunities.

Partnering for Progress: Catalyse Change

As part of our diversity and inclusion commitment as well as our broader giving strategy, we are already proud to support initiatives that resonate with our core values. For the past three years, as part of our commitments under the IEMA Diversity Sustainability Initiative, we have been actively involved in Catalyse Change CIC – a programme dedicated to empowering young women in sustainability.

This year, we are thrilled to deepen our engagement with Catalyse Change by stepping into a key sponsorship role providing two bursaries to support young women of colour or less advantaged and underrepresented backgrounds to join the Catalyse Summit and Mentoring programme. We hope these individuals will be inspired, empowered, and upskilled as sustainability leaders and change makers with the opportunity to connect with climate leaders.

Sophie Brooks, our Founder, comments “As a mentor, I’ve been enormously invigorated and inspired by having the opportunity to interact with many of the young women who I’ve had the privilege of mentoring over that time. So it brings me great hope to be able to sponsor this important programme which focuses specifically on bringing through young women or non-binary professionals from underrepresented groups, and to see the sincerity and determination that these early-stage professionals have to try and meet and address the social and environmental challenges we see in the world today.” ?

'We are delighted that Fit for Purpose Consulting has joined us as a sponsor, which makes such a massive difference to what we can achieve and for the young?changemakers they are supporting to be part of our programme and community,” said Traci Lewis, Co-founder and Director, Catalyse Change CIC. ?She continues: “We have also been very grateful that Sophie has been such a brilliant mentor for?Catalyse?Change?over the past two years, so it's great that our relationship is developing to make even more of an impact.”

This partnership with Catalyse Change reflects Fit for Purpose’s commitment to investing 3% of our revenues in environmental or social impact charities, with a focus on local charities by 2025. In line with this goal, we’re proud to have also supported local Oxford charities like Citizens Advice Oxford and One Planet Abingdon in FY24. By aligning skills transfer with the imperative of increasing diversity in the sustainability sector, we aim to catalyse meaningful change and foster a more inclusive landscape of future leaders.

We’re excited to be a partner to Catalyse Change going forward and are looking forward to seeing this year’s programme take shape.
