Empowering Schools for a Sustainable Future: The Sustainable Schools Programme

Schools today are facing a multitude of challenges, from community violence to learners dealing with dire circumstances at home. Many students rely on school feeding schemes for their only meal of the day, while others are disconnected from nature and unaware of their impact on the environment. Teachers, already overworked, are striving to inspire and stimulate learners while dealing with disruptive classroom dynamics.

Enter the Sustainable Schools Programme—a holistic approach that not only focuses on environmental education but also promotes overall well-being and community involvement. Here's how we make a difference:

• Addressing Each School's Unique Context: We support schools in planning and implementing action projects tailored to their unique challenges, ensuring relevance and effectiveness.
• Engagement Through Action Projects: We encourage relevant action projects (e.g. vegetable gardens used as a learning tool whilst providing nourishment) where the entire school and surrounding communities are involved, to foster a sense of ownership and unity.
• Opportunities to connect to nature: We advocate for learning environments that go beyond traditional classrooms, incorporating nature and hands-on practices to enrich the learning experience for the learners.
• Curriculum-Aligned Resources: Our library of resources empower teachers to deliver engaging lessons that resonate with learners, whilst addressing critical environmental topics.?
• Support on the Journey: Each school receives the support of a School Coordinator from our team, to guide them throughout their journey on the programme.?
