Empowering Real-Time Event-Driven Innovation in the AWS Cloud

Amazon EventBridge is a serverless event bus service provided by AWS. It simplifies event-driven architectures and enables seamless integration between various AWS services and custom applications. EventBridge allows you to ingest, filter, transform, and route events in real-time, making it an essential component for building highly scalable and loosely coupled microservices.

EventBridge Building Blocks (Components) :

Amazon EventBridge consists of several key building blocks or components that enable its functionality within the AWS ecosystem:

Event Source:

  • Event sources are services or external systems that generate events.
  • Examples of event sources include AWS services like S3, Lambda, and custom applications that can publish events.

Event Bus:

  • An event bus is a logical channel that acts as a conduit for events. Events are published to an event bus and consumed by target services. Amazon
  • EventBridge supports both the default event bus and custom event buses.

  • Aggregating events by sending events from multiple event buses to a centralised event bus. This centralised bus can be in the same account as the other buses, but can also be in a different account or Region.

Event:

  • An event is a JSON document that represents an occurrence or state change in an event source. Events typically contain metadata and payload information.

Rules:

  • Rules define the conditions under which events are routed to target services. You can create rules to filter, transform, and route events based on specific attributes.

Targets:

  • Targets are AWS services, Lambda functions, or custom applications that receive and process events. They define the actions to be taken when specific events match defined rules.

Schema Registry:

  • The schema registry is an optional component that allows you to centralize and manage event schemas. It provides a structured way to validate, transform, and understand event data.

EventBridge Partner Integration:

  • EventBridge also integrates with third-party SaaS applications, allowing you to receive events from various external sources.

Amazon EventBridge simplifies the development of event-driven applications, making it a valuable tool for building responsive and scalable systems in a serverless architecture.

Whether you're building serverless applications, implementing real-time monitoring and alerting, or integrating third-party tools seamlessly, Amazon EventBridge is a must-have tool in your cloud toolkit.
