Empowering Questions
The writer Rudyard Kipling is quoted as saying “I had six honest serving men - they taught me all I knew. Their names were: Where and What and When and Why and How and Who.”
You ask questions all day long in the normal process of thinking. The questions you ask consciously, which program your subconscious mind to go on asking them in the future, determine actions and behaviors. You either experience emotions and develop attitudes which support you in getting what you want in life or lead yourself into a state of anxiety, worry, and non-productive actions. Focus your thoughts on successful outcomes and ask questions to receive answers which inspire you. You'll find the amount of negativity in your life will be reduced. With enough practice, it might even go away.
Ask questions which empower your thought processes. For many people the act of writing them down and reading them throughout the day helps. Below are examples to ascertain more in-depth knowledge of who you are and why you act in certain ways.
- What is unique or special about me?
- What do I like about my work and how can I do a better job?
- How do I treat the individuals in my relationships?
- Who cares for and supports me and who do I do the same for?
- What is useful about this 'problem'?
- Where can I find the resources needed to accomplish my dream or goal?
- What can the next hour mean to me and do for me if I get this task done?
- Why is what I'm doing important; how will I feel when it's done?
- How can I enrich the life of another person ?
- When I achieve what I am striving for, how can I use it to improve myself in other areas of my life?
- Where is there room for improvement in various segments of my professional and personal activities?
Many of these answers should make you feel good because they force you to focus on what is going right in your life. With an optimistic outlook, you see just far enough ahead to become even more encouraged that you can and will succeed. As you re-invent your life in a variety of ways, confidence and enthusiasm soars. Achieving even modest goals is confirmation you are capable of doing more.
For those answers suggesting you could use improvement, be proud for noticing. You now have the choice to come up with alternative actions and resolutions to enhance relationships with people and practices.
Follow-up your accomplishments with the question “How did I do that” and acknowledge the empowering answer. Those responses teach you how to win again and again. When you ask great questions you expect to get great answers. Your mind becomes more disciplined and creative. Your life really has no choice but to become better when you use a positive mindset.
If you're like me, you read those questions and perhaps spent a few moments answering them before moving on. That's understandable, it's human nature to say 'later'. I do hope you will go back and consider them more fully because you learn a lot about yourself and what opportunities there are to re-invent your style to form a better future.
