It's still in the metrics, but most are measuring lazy metrics - the easy to get numbers that drive shortsighted behaviors. One metric I use when visiting a site is the percentage of genuine smiles that are returned to me as I walk the shop floor. It's definitely something more, like you said Beau Groover. But I believe we can find objective indicators to look at.
