Empowering Nonprofits with Data
As we celebrate National Pro Bono Week, I reflect on the impactful work of KPMG employees who deliver value through our Data Citizens with Purpose? (DCwP) program. Over the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the delivery of well over 100 insights guides to our nonprofit clients. Each project has not only helped our clients better understand their data but has also inspired them to find better ways of working.
At KPMG, we understand that data is more than just numbers; it is a powerful tool that can reveal insights, identify trends, and guide organizations towards achieving their missions. Through our pro bono engagements, we partner with nonprofits to enhance their digital literacy, enabling them to better understand and utilize their data. This collaboration not only helps these organizations recognize the true value of their data but also empowers them to make data-driven decisions that amplify their impact.
One of the most rewarding aspects of our work is witnessing the transformation that occurs when nonprofits begin to see their data as an asset. By providing tailored support and expertise, we help these organizations improve their data analytic practices, and ultimately, achieve greater outcomes for the communities they serve.? At the end of each year, we ask our pro bono clients what has changed for them, and we repeatedly hear comments like, we gained better insight into our market penetration and the effectiveness of services delivered to our clients.
Moreover, the benefits of these engagements extend beyond our nonprofit clients. KPMG employees who participate in these projects gain invaluable experience and insights that enhance their ability to deliver data-driven solutions to all of our clients. “I believe I can analyze data better after my project, allowing me to deliver better insights to my client,” said one participant. “The experience helped me hone skills related to describing data insights that are relevant to the audience.” By working closely with nonprofits, our team members develop a deeper understanding of diverse data challenges and innovative approaches to solving them. This experience enriches their professional growth and equips them with the skills needed to provide exceptional service across all sectors.
As we celebrate National Pro Bono Week, I am inspired by the dedication and passion of my KPMG colleagues, who Together are making a difference, one data-driven insight at a time.
