?? Empowering the Next Generation: Our Commitment to High School Students ??

At Marymount University, we believe in the transformative power of education. Our mission extends beyond our campus boundaries, reaching into high schools to ensure students have the tools, opportunities, and support they need to succeed.

Upon completing the summer program, students receive three transferable credits for Marymount’s Concepts of Artificial Intelligence course.

“This field really interests me and my attention is drawn to it,” said Nalej Francis, a rising senior at Phelps ACE High School in Washington, D.C. “I heard Marymount is a good school and that this would be a good program to kick off my networking career, so it’s helping prepare me for what’s out there.”

Why is this so important?

  1. Early Exposure to College-Level Learning: Dual enrollment programs give high school students a head start, allowing them to experience college courses, earn credits, and build confidence.
  2. Bridging the Gap: By partnering with local high schools, we’re making higher education more accessible. We’re breaking down barriers and showing students that college is within reach.
  3. Holistic Development: It’s not just about academics. Our programs focus on personal growth, leadership, and community engagement, preparing students for all aspects of life.

“I think it’s really important for these students to get a head start,” explained Dr. Diane Murphy, Director of Marymount University’s Center for the Innovative Workforce

Our Commitment:

“I want to use my position as an instructor to help future generations. It’s very interesting to see how their minds work – whenever you’re teaching them things, you can see their brains working and figuring things out,” Alleyne shared. “It’s very rewarding to pass on knowledge, and I’m even learning myself. They surprise me with how much they know, so it’s been an amazing experience.”

?? Supportive Pathways: Dedicated advisors and mentors to guide students every step of the way.

?? Innovative Programs: Tailored courses and extracurricular activities that align with students’ interests and career goals.

?? Community Connections: Building strong ties with local schools, families, and community organizations to foster a supportive network.

We’re proud of our strides, but this is just the beginning. Together, we can create a brighter future for our youth.

"This program is a unique testament to the incredible work that can be accomplished when organizations join forces and share their talents and strengths for the good of all students,” said Dr. Louis Frisenda, Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at Marymount University. “It will help prepare today’s workforce for tomorrow’s jobs."

Join us in this mission! Let’s make higher education a reality for all high school students.

This is soooo good. One of my recommendations in my DiP was for GEAR UP programs to partner with higher education and offer dual enrollment. College is still and always be an integral part of a learner's success.
