Empowering the next generation with Constructive Futures
Recently, Leeds Studio had the pleasure of welcoming the Constructive Futures team into our office as well as two of their students for work experience. This initiative is part of our commitment to nurturing young talent and providing real-world insights into the industry! ??
Laeticia Tavares , a dedicated student about to enter her third year at Leeds Beckett University studying Architecture, joined us for a week-long experience. During her time with us, she not only sought guidance on her upcoming university submissions but also took the opportunity to dive deep into learning about the design process from RIBA stages 0-7. Laeticia was incredibly positive, proactive, and engaged, showing great curiosity about the diverse projects we’re currently working on.
Here is what she had to say:
“Completing my work experience at Frank Shaw Associates was an invaluable opportunity for me, particularly because I had the chance to work one-one-one with experienced professionals in the industry. The hands on learning and direct mentorship provided insights that went far beyond the classroom. Everyone at the firm was incredibly warm, welcoming and willing to share their knowledge. It was an environment where I felt comfortable asking questions making the experience both enriching and inspiring!”
Eddie, an exceptionally bright 13-year-old, spent a day with us, eager to get a glimpse into the profession. As an icebreaker task, we invited Eddie to design his dream home using Minecraft (one of his favourite games!). His creativity shone through as he quickly transitioned from the digital model to producing impressive hand-drawn sketches and orthographic drawings. His natural eye for detail and his ability to translate ideas from concept to paper at such a young age truly impressed our team. It was a joy to witness his enthusiasm, and we look forward to seeing how his talent develops in the future!
Both Eddie and Laeticia demonstrated a genuine passion for architecture, showing a willingness to learn and explore the skills necessary for a successful career in the field. Their eagerness and positive energy were inspiring to all of us at Leeds Studio.
We are delighted to continue working with Constructive Futures , supporting young students as they explore potential careers in architecture. It’s truly rewarding to contribute to shaping the next generation of professionals, and we’re excited about the potential we’ve already seen from these two bright students.
