Empowering The Medical Research Revolution

The Australian Government is firmly focused on accelerating Australia's momentum in the field of medical research. The current Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, famously said

"There has never been a more exciting time to be an Australian."

He is renowned for also talking about innovation and ideas along with transforming the economy away from dependence on the mining sector. Australia is already a leader in medical research and the sector has been identified for investment... but from whom will the money come?

Innovation and ideas need to be connected with investors and corporations capable of commercialising the potential of intellectual property. Medical research is often seen as a high stakes gamble, with some claiming only 1:10,000 make it to profitability. For this reason alone, the quality of anyone's network plays a huge role in the success of a venture.

It has been a privilege this week to help connect some of the greatest medical research minds in Australia to visionary and well resourced business leaders. The idea to provide these introductions was born from our company mission: Revolutionising Wealth, Empowering Ambition. Findex is committed to giving back to the community by being the catalyst for revolutionising the way Australia collaboratively funds research to deliver on the government’s vision.

Findex is delighted to have been selected as Partners to work with Professor Ian Frazer AO and the Fellows of the Australian Academy of Medicine & Health Sciences during the Academy’s symposium. Minister for Health Sussan Leys and NSW Minister for Industry, Anthony Roberts, will join an eminent group of Fellows from across the Academy as they discuss the Government's newly established Medical Research Futures Fund.

Collaboration is at the core of how Findex engages with our clients. We are therefore delighted to be a catalyst for revolutionising the way the Australian corporate sector interacts with vital organisations such as the Academy & the new Medical futures fund. Our ability to access not only the equity and debt capital markets but to additionally leverage our significant cross section of existing clients serving the health needs of Australia were compelling to Professor Frazer and his executive.

This will no doubt be a ground breaking event and we look forward to sharing our thoughts & opinions with our clients & partner organisations. What do you believe are the biggest challenger in funding medical research and innovation in Australia?

Thanks for reading and feel free to connect or comment here. My purpose is to elevate the financial services industry and  I am passionately committed to modernising the way the sector operates in delivering greater transparency and value for clients.

Great post Peter and congratulations to Findex for contributing to Australia's future prosperity. More companies need to give back by lending their brand, resources and know-how to foster collaboration in connecting great ideas with capital. This initiative could lead to some great outcomes as scientific medical research is connected with industry.
