In 2023, employee referrals were identified as the second most successful recruiting method in Manitowoc County (see graph 1). Moreover, a significant portion of employers in the county provided a 3% match for retirement savings, underscoring common practices within our region (see graph 2). These findings provide a snapshot of the comprehensive data obtained from last year's survey.

Addressing Emerging Needs

Childcare benefits are increasingly becoming an essential component in workforce development. Our survey will shed light on the different childcare benefit offerings from Manitowoc County businesses, acknowledging the pivotal role this aspect plays in both attracting and retaining talent.

This survey, one of two conducted by Progress Lakeshore throughout the year, is part of our strategic initiative to address workforce attraction and retention. The other survey, scheduled for the summer of 2024, will focus on wages and employment practices for specific positions across various industries. All industries are included in this comprehensive survey, ensuring a holistic understanding of our local workforce dynamics.
