Empowering Growth and Leadership through ALPFA's L.E.A.D Program: A Personal Story

I'm Edgar Rosillo, CPA a Mexican-American CPA, a proud father of three, President of the ALPFA Dallas chapter, and a tax Senior Manager at 德勤 Tax - Global Employer Services.?

My journey with ALPFA began in 2008, since then, I have been dedicated to giving back to my community. In recognition of our chapter's outstanding achievements, the ALPFA Dallas chapter was honored as the Emerging Chapter of the Year in 2019 and 2022. Furthermore, I was humbled to receive the ALPFA Outstanding Service Award in 2020 and be recognized as Seramount's Working Dad of the Year in 2021. These accolades underscored my dedication and impact in various aspects of my life.

In 2022, I completed ALPFA’s L.E.A.D Program, a premier leadership development program that addresses both the professional and personal aspects of an individual’s growth journey, and I want to share with you my transformative experience, and how it has shaped me both personally and professionally.

Allow me to take a moment to reflect on my personal experience with ALPFA's L.E.A.D Program. As I entered the room, I was greeted by a diverse group of high-performing individuals from various industries and backgrounds. It was clear that we all shared a common goal: to grow and excel professionally. The facilitators, who were experts in their fields, instilled a sense of confidence and commitment in me as I embarked on an enriching journey of learning and collaboration. I quickly realized that the more effort I put into the program, the more I would gain from it. Therefore, I gave myself permission to be fully present and focused.

Thirteen years into my profession, L.E.A.D helped me redefine "networking" into "strategic relationships," a critical component of leadership. We were exposed to a new mindset and provided with tools to help us achieve our objectives, both of which have helped me foster and cultivate new relationships with key leaders within my community. These relationships will serve as conduits to help achieve my career and personal goals. This is only one of the key themes we explored. To this day, I reflect on my pages of notes and reflections reminding me of skills and tools to lead.

The L.E.A.D program encompasses four key elements that have played a pivotal role in my personal and professional development:

L - Leadership: Throughout the program, I was surrounded by inspiring leaders who served as role models and mentors. Learning from their experiences and insights, I grew into a stronger leader myself.

E - Engagement: The level of engagement from the ALPFA staff, guest speakers, and facilitators was exceptional. Their unwavering commitment to our growth as participants was evident throughout the program, fostering an environment of support and collaboration.

A - Advancement: The L.E.A.D program truly delivers on its promise of advancement. By acquiring valuable skills and expanding my network purposefully, I have witnessed a significant impact on both my personal and professional journey. These experiences will undoubtedly guide and propel me towards my aspiration of becoming a Partner.

D - Development: The program is a call to action for personal and professional development. It is not just about the opportunity it presents; it is about what we choose to do with that opportunity.

Since completing the program, I have continued to invest in my own growth, empower those around me, and make a positive impact in my community. This experience has transformed me into a stronger and more courageous leader for the betterment of my community.
