Iberdrola and BP launch 25 MW green hydrogen plant in Spain
Iberdrola and BP have taken a final investment decision to build a 25-megawatt green hydrogen plant in Castellon, Spain. Supported by a €15 million EU subsidy, the project will help decarbonize BP's oil refinery, reducing its carbon footprint by an estimated 23,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. Operational by 2026, this initiative marks a significant step toward scaling up Spain's green hydrogen production.
Germany refutes Trump’s energy and pet-eating claims after debate
During a recent presidential debate, Donald Trump made claims about Germany's energy policy, suggesting the country had backtracked on its green initiatives. In response, Germany’s Foreign Ministry corrected his statement, emphasizing that over 50% of its energy now comes from renewable sources, and it remains committed to phasing out coal by 2038. Trump also falsely claimed that Haitian immigrants in Ohio were eating pets, a statement Germany mocked in its rebuttal.
RE+ 2024 behind us – we are back full of inspiration and new ideas!
Team Codibly joined RE+ 2024 in Anaheim, where industry leaders gathered to discuss the latest trends in renewable energy and energy storage. The event highlighted innovations in battery storage, grid optimization, and the growing role of virtual power plants in a cleaner energy future. Our team engaged with key partners and explored new collaboration opportunities in the energy sector. Stay tuned for a detailed summary of our takeaways, which will be posted on LinkedIn next week!
Hurricane Francine brings severe flooding and winds to Louisiana and Mississippi
Hurricane Francine unleashed powerful winds and extensive flooding across Louisiana and Mississippi, leaving many areas underwater and residents without power. The storm caused significant damage to homes, infrastructure, and roadways, forcing evacuations in several regions. Emergency services are working to assess the full extent of the impact as weather conditions slowly improve. As the recovery begins, the role of renewable energy in supporting resilient infrastructure during such events is being highlighted

BYD moves forward with EV plant in Turkey despite overseas investment risks
BYD has received the green light to build a $1 billion electric vehicle plant in Turkey, expected to create 5,000 jobs and produce up to 150,000 vehicles annually by 2026. Despite China's recent warning about the risks of investing in certain overseas markets, BYD is pushing forward with this project to expand its global footprint. The plant is part of the automaker’s strategy to diversify beyond China, amid growing international demand and challenges in the EV sector.
GM and EVgo to roll out hundreds of 350kW DC fast chargers across the US
General Motors and EVgo are collaborating to deploy hundreds of 350kW DC fast chargers at flagship stations across the U.S., aiming to support the growing demand for electric vehicles. These ultra-fast chargers will significantly reduce charging times for EV owners, enabling longer trips and more convenience. The initiative is part of GM's broader effort to expand EV infrastructure and accelerate the transition to electric mobility.
Mercedes set to test solid-state batteries in EVs soon
Mercedes-Benz is preparing to test solid-state batteries in its electric vehicles within the next few months. These next-generation batteries promise higher energy density, faster charging, and enhanced safety compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries. Mercedes’ trial is a significant step toward integrating solid-state technology into commercial EV production, which could revolutionize the industry by offering longer ranges and reducing dependency on current battery materials.
