The MetaScholars program, a groundbreaking initiative established by the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and powered by Campus ONE, is revolutionizing the way we prepare students for success in the fast-evolving landscape of the Metaverse. This program equips talented individuals from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and TMCF Member PBIs with the necessary skills and mindset to thrive. It recognizes the historical significance of underrepresented communities in each transformative revolution. It aligns perfectly with the vision presented in Dr. Tyrone Taborn's MetaQuake USA, emphasizing the importance of equitable involvement and diverse perspectives in building the Metaverse.

Unlocking the Potential of the Metaverse:

As the world rapidly transitions from physical experiences to virtual realities, the Metaverse has emerged as an exciting ecosystem of shared, persistent digital experiences. It is a realm where boundaries dissolve, and the possibilities for innovation and entrepreneurship are limitless. The MetaScholars program recognizes the transformative power of the Metaverse. It aims to unlock the potential within talented individuals, allowing them to leverage technology, creativity, and an entrepreneurial mindset to shape the future.

According to Goldman Sachs, 300 million jobs are estimated to be eliminated by artificial intelligence. As technology continues to advance, traditional job roles may undergo significant changes. College enrollment has also been declining since 2010. Nationwide, undergraduate college enrollment dropped 8% from 2019 to 2022, with declines even after returning to in-person classes, according to data from the National Student Clearinghouse. This decline in college enrollment is the steepest on record since 2018, as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. Evidently, the landscape of education and employment is rapidly evolving, requiring new approaches and skills to thrive in the digital age.

The Metaverse and Future of Education:

Metaverse technologies have the potential to transform school lessons, bring teachers and students together remotely in shared spaces, enhance vocational training, and create new opportunities for lifelong learning. The Metaverse is upon us, and its presence is set to become as ubiquitous as popular social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook (now Meta). As technology advances to bring us new immersive and imaginary worlds, our educational systems must also grow to meet these new opportunities. When education lags behind the digital leaps, technology rather than educators defines what counts as an educational opportunity. This scenario has previously unfolded with the introduction of "educational" apps designed for smartphones and tablets meant for adults. Today, as the metaverse infrastructure is still under construction, researchers, educators, policymakers, and digital designers can lead the way, leveraging the potential of the Metaverse as a 3D, global, interconnected, immersive, and real-time online space.

The MetaScholars program aligns perfectly with the need to prepare students for the metaverse revolution. It equips them with the skills, mindset, and adaptability needed to thrive in the digital landscape. By embracing the potential of the Metaverse as an educational platform, MetaScholars empowers students to navigate the challenges and opportunities that arise with the rapid advancement of technology. The program takes a forward-thinking approach, ensuring that students are not left behind but at the forefront of the metaverse revolution.

A Journey of Skill Building and Transformation:

MetaScholars offers students a transformative journey that goes beyond traditional education. The program nurtures the entrepreneurial spirit by providing immersive experiences and tailored developmental activities while equipping participants with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in the Metaverse. Through Metaverse training, students gain hands-on experience navigating and harnessing the vast opportunities within this digital realm. They dive deep into Cryptonomics and Tokenomics, exploring the decentralized economy that underpins the Metaverse. Additionally, the program emphasizes design thinking and pitching within the Metaverse, enabling students to craft compelling narratives and bring their ideas to life.

The comprehensive curriculum of the MetaScholars program is designed to empower students with the necessary tools and mindset to thrive in the Metaverse. It combines technical knowledge with creative problem-solving and entrepreneurial thinking. Students are immersed in a dynamic learning environment where they acquire skills and develop the resilience and adaptability needed to thrive in the ever-evolving landscape of the Metaverse:

Daylin Hart, May 2023 Graduate | Interest: Virtual & Augmented Reality:

"One example of how Metaverse training has helped me imagine new ways of scaling entrepreneurial ideas and pitch them would be when I went to the Black Sports Business Symposium earlier this year, and I believe it was March. I had the opportunity to meet with a lot of professionals within the sports industry, and I came at it from a different perspective on how we can implement new and emerging technologies into this space. Rick Paul actually came and spoke, and he kind of, you know, got my brain thinking as to how we can better support these athletes and make sure that they're getting everything that they deserve without intermediaries trying to extract and pull money away from them in their contracts because these young men and young women work very hard for the opportunity to sign those million-dollar deals. Some of them, you know, breaking generational curses. So I believe that smart contracts could be applied to make sure that the agent gets exactly what the agent is supposed to get. The player gets exactly what they're supposed to get, and any endorsement deals or anything of that sort could then, you know, be worked out through smart contract technology. Everybody has a copy. That way, nobody tries to get over on anybody else. And then another idea was just utilizing AR and VR. We were at Mercedes-Benz, Atlanta Falcon Stadium, and I whipped up a prototype of the LA Rams stadium using aframe, which is a virtual reality technology, and they loved it. It was new, it was exciting. And just having those skills to be able to pitch really did help me out."
