Empowering Employees to Maximize Their Potential

Infinite challenges face both companies and the workforce. Between various disruptions and uncertainties in our economy and political landscape, companies and professionals are being pushed to the brink. Companies need to invest in the employees they have more than ever. Without significant engagement, investment, and growth in the workplace, companies and their employees risk falling behind to a point of no return.
Include employees in company decisions
The importance of inclusion and transparency cannot be stressed enough for workplaces in 2022. With companies needing to "do more with less", there is no room for subpar employee engagement. Inclusion and transparency help foster a sense of belonging, understanding, and investment in company culture and affairs. The lines between leadership and employee continue to slowly fall with every given year. Maximizing productivity has almost become something that companies must work hard to earn daily. Tearing down these walls and making sure every employee feels their voice is heard is vital. ?
Recent studies by Qualtrics show that 92% of employees believe?it's?important their company listens to feedback. Fortunately, the stats show that?employees are?also?increasingly given the opportunities to provide feedback.?In 2019, 63% felt they had the opportunity to provide?feedback, and in 2020,?69%.?Unfortunately, there remains a gap between feedback and action. Only 7% of the same respondents feel their feedback is acted upon and results in a change.??
Mentorship programs or employee interest groups are great best practices. With that said, these practices take different forms with their own strengths and weaknesses. I am curious if any of you have experiences (good or bad) you’d wish to share!

Give them options to maximize THEIR workplace experience
We constantly need to recognize the different ways people work, perform, and assimilate into a given workplace. All these things can be impacted by one’s demographics, upbringing, parental status, education, and general personality. Giving employees options will help them maximize their overall daily productivity. A good example would be offering a blended workplace (offering infrastructure and processes that accommodate both in-office and virtual workers).

Always inspire teams to learn and growth
With workplaces constantly at threat of disruption. If the past year has taught us anything, it’s that companies and the careers of the employees they comprise are constantly at risk. Creating a healthy and robust ecosystem of learning is vital for companies as they navigate forward.
94% of employees want to learn at work. Companies are matching this enthusiasm by heavily investing both time and money in seminars, live coaching, and even companywide learning management systems (LMS) to conduct and embed learning. Unfortunately, only 12% of employees apply new skills learned through these traditional methods [1]
Learning & Development is one of the most mutually beneficial fields for companies and their employees in 2022. With some fine-tuning of the traditional obstacles in the field, we can hopefully turn a significant new chapter that will maximize company and individual performance!
Embrace technology to create a sustainable culture of growth
The above is rendered ineffective without strategies and processes that are adaptable and easy to scale. Technology is empowering growth at the individual employee level on a company-wide scale. Technology solutions can inspire personal growth and one’s investment in their workplace at a better rate and scale than some traditional methods. With the workplace changing at unprecedented rates, technology also provides much-needed versatility to our strategic efforts.
Technology is the foundation of my work with companies looking for better solutions. These new-age tools are becoming more and more widespread in our HR, Learning, and training efforts. What are some examples of new solutions you’ve seen in action? I’m excited to hear your experiences in the comments!

2 年In the public sector I’ve experienced that remote working is sometimes preferred but just not feasible in some environments. You mention to give employees options to maximize THEIR workplace experience. Besides remote working, are there any other recommendations anyone has to maximize the experience? Especially interested in feedback for the public sector.

2 年Denise Hummel Isaacson Love this quote from your article, "Creating a healthy and robust ecosystem of learning is vital for companies as they navigate forward. 94% of employees want to learn at work.?" Yes! As leaders we have always known that retaining great humans goes beyond "green" (money). Understanding what the team member needs to feel fulfilled personally and professionally right now, and anticipating what will be needed in the future to fuel their development is key for leaders. I have found my team members crave education, training, support to fuel their minds. And, as the ReWork team had demonstrated, this training is delivered in the right way - the results can be magical.
