A conversation between Yawar & Mentor very close to my heart from our book 'Wings To Fly'.

Yawar: “It feels good to hear these motivational statements, but imagine if you were in my situation where meeting monthly expenses are an uphill task; where the whole family is completely dependent on you. All you hear from people around you is pieces of advice which focus on finding a REAL JOB and not chasing intangible dreams. You are talking about miracles and capabilities; they sound great coming from a person who himself is one of the most privileged trainers of the country. What would you do if you were in my shoes?”

Yawar stressed on each word of his question.

On hearing this, the mentor went quiet. Yawar tried to look out for his signature smile, but that was missing too. The silence filled the space between them and before it became deafening, the mentor thoughtfully repeated Yawar’s question in a low emphatic voice: “Hmm…What would I do if I were in your place?”

“If I were in your place, I would have these two words to say with pride - YAWAR KHAN. Nobody, no situation, and nothing could deprive me of this reality of being human. I would be that person who came to this world with a purpose and would leave this world when the time came. I would see myself as priceless and unique. I would express my innate capabilities in a way that would affirm my meaningful presence on this planet. I would know what it means to be Yawar Khan. I would have a voice.”
