Empowering Construction Through Academia-Industry Synergy
VisiLean Ltd
Cloud-based construction management solution integrating Lean production management with BIM visualisation.
November marked a monumental time for the construction industry in India. It was a very busy month for VisiLean as we attended, exhibited, and presented at four prominent events in Bangalore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Guwahati across India. We engaged with industry leaders, academicians, and practitioners. The discussions brought the growing awareness of digitalisation in construction to the forefront. There has been a notable surge in interest in AI-driven solutions being integrated into project management tools. As project scales and client expectations soar, the need for seamless collaboration among all stakeholders has become paramount. However, the skills shortage continues to be a pressing challenge, underscoring the urgent need for stronger ties between academia and the industry to better prepare the workforce of tomorrow.
To bridge this gap, academia must play a crucial role in equipping future generations with the necessary skills. VisiLean has always been a bridge between academia and the industry. We have been at the forefront as we actively support the community through our academia tie-up programs, embedding cutting-edge technologies into curriculums, and fostering research-driven innovation.
Equally critical is fostering collaboration among all stakeholders, from clients and contractors to consultants and vendors, to address these challenges collectively. VisiLean's active participation in various events, including CTD2024, ILCC 2024, Digital Build and CEPT Conference, underscores the company's commitment to driving innovation, fostering collaboration, and addressing the industry's evolving needs.

“Today, Gurgaon is already contributing 60-70 per cent of the tax revenues of Haryana state. Most of the Fortune 500 companies are there. Today, would you believe that the per capita medical facility for Indian cities is the highest in Gurgaon? There were no medical facilities earlier. Medanta came with my intervention. Today, Gurgaon has the best medical beds, schools, malls, offices, golf courses, and restaurants. It has become the capital for a rich lifestyle,” he stresses.
Even in ideal circumstances, carving a new route through the landscape costs millions of dollars per mile and can take decades to complete. With its first — and now only — phase currently costed at between $58.4 billion and $70 billion by the UK government, Britain’s High Speed 2 (HS2) rail project now costs an eye-watering $416 million per mile. It’s a metric that gives it the dubious honour of being the world‘s most expensive railway project. Now, with even its supporters despairing at how it’s been managed in recent years, the rail project is widely viewed as an expensive mess that will likely never deliver many of the social and economic benefits it once promised.
