Excellence in Education and Training
Following last week's launch of a series of stackable micro-credentials in the construction industry, and the QQI Level 5 special purpose award in Construction Skills for Energy Conservation by Simon Harris . The below video showcases how Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board (LOETB), in collaboration with SOLAS (An tSeirbhís Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna) , Construction Industry Federation (CIF) , and DASBE strive to meet the evolving needs of the construction sector by developing a pathway model that offers a range of programmes starting at Level 3 and progressing up to Level 7/8. These programmes cater to new entrants to the construction sector, existing workers seeking to enhance their skills, and construction professionals aiming to further their expertise.
What makes this Pathway model unique is its flexibility. Successful participants can attain micro-credentials at various stages along the pathway and have the freedom to exit and reenter as suits their needs. This accessibility aspect makes the pathway suitable for all types of learners, including the unemployed, those currently employed, or school leavers embarking on a career in construction.
While supporting the Government's Housing for All (HfA) Strategy, and commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable homes to meet the housing needs of all citizens. The Pathway acknowledges the diverse range of skills within the construction industry and provides a clear and structured path for individuals to upskill and build a rewarding career within the sector.
