In the heart of our communities, women are leading the change towards sustainability and economic empowerment. By turning waste into wealth and preserving traditional crafts, these women have built inspiring models of eco-friendly entrepreneurship.
Preserving Tradition with Sal Leaf Plates
Since 2019, 12 women from Shiv Durga Jivika Sakhi Mandal in the Beko Panchayat of East Singhbhum, Jharkhand, have been crafting eco-friendly plates from Sal leaves. Walking up to 15 kilometers to collect raw materials, they’ve turned their traditional skills into a reliable source of income.

The group plans to streamline its operations and explore other traditional crafts, aiming to meet the rising demand for sustainable products.
