Empowering Change for Animals: June News & Events

This month, we celebrate the tremendous success of our recent Pet Wellness Day in Boyle Heights, where hundreds of pets received free medical care, essential resources, and a whole lot of love. We also delve into the critical role of spaying and neutering in reducing pet homelessness and ensuring a healthier animal population.

As you explore, you'll discover:

  • The heartwarming impact of our community outreach programs.
  • Insights on responsible pet ownership and preventative care.
  • Ways you can get involved and make a difference in the lives of animals.

Michelson Found Animals is committed to creating a world where all animals have a chance to thrive. Together, we're making significant strides in achieving this goal.

Let's dive in!

300 Pets and Counting Helped at Michelson Found Animals' Boyle Heights Pet Wellness Day!

Michelson Found Animals’ Better Neighbor Project returned to the Boyle Heights community to join Senator María Elena Durazo and Assemblymember Miguel Santiago for a Pet Wellness Day to remember!

Here's a glimpse of the impact made thanks to all our community partners and volunteers who made this event pawsible:

  • 300 pet families received FREE services!

  • 30 pets were spayed or neutered! Did you know that one unspayed female cat can have an average of 2-3 litters per year, and kittens can become pregnant as young as 4-6 months old? This quick reproduction cycle overwhelms shelters and contributes to pet homelessness. Spaying and neutering not only helps control pet populations but also improves your pet's health and lifespan by preventing cancers and other serious conditions.

  • 106 microchips registered & 128 pet ID tags distributed to keep pets safe and ensure happy reunions if they get lost.

  • Plus, tons of free pet food & supplies were given to loving pet owners!

In addition to this event, we held additional free clinics at the Aliso Pico Recreation Center in partnership with CAMP Clinics, which serviced an additional 150+ pets in May. Together, we're making a difference for pets in Los Angeles!??
