Empowered Self Treatment - the new paradigm in healthcare.

Your health is your greatest resource. Your conscious choice of lifestyle, sports and mindset influences your well-being. Your health is your wealth. Did you ever think that your health is a given and would never dissipate? Well, welcome to the club - most of us have thought this way and were unshakable in our belief. Most of us, those who are impeccable optimists, still think this is the truth and, due to this optimistic thought-pattern, amongst other factors, influences the DNA capacity for multiplying, thus increasing cell longevity and adding years to one's expected lifespan.

Designing your health is as good as putting money in the bank (or finding a gold treasure on an exotic island). Though nothing is going to happen in that direction unless you start to do something! First, let's map the basic: the inner conscious optimist - giving yourself the option of lazy all out on a couch in front of a tv thinking 'it will be alright' (-not recommended). Or you can shoe-horn yourself out of the couch and get out of your comfort zone to do a motivated step towards your yoga shala or an outdoor experience that can, oh-no.. -have you ending in a ¨hourray, I did it! -I feel strong and vivid, and boy, nature is beautiful!¨ -even you'd bustled around on a mountainbike amongst too many roots, slipping, literally, into childhoods playing with mud again (mostly unwillingly) as you haven't got your motor coordination into maximum efficiency before taking on that steep passage between 2 trees or that (optimistic) jump.

And, just to tick it off in the mind-body-connection album: Pessimism, as in an ingredient in a daily normal life, that, as well as other sad feelings are instigating the DNA to crumple up in a knot, loosing its vitality, and generally is only worth paying attention to, if it is portrayed by a self-conscious kvetching stand-up comedian.

Using your body physically burns calories -yes it makes you more fit and mentally awake. Your body uses nutrients -yes and that depletes your mineral reserves (eg. potassium) and, your body use oxygen -that produce carbon dioxide -producing lactic acid in the tissue. All in all the ingredients of the muscle pain that we encounter when using our selves as crash test dummies (or not) or doing the more dynamic styles of yoga. This muscle pain actually have a name: We know it as DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) that gots it treacherous tittle due to is sneaky nature: it will show it's face the day after that lovely day in the woods on mtb or at the yoga shala with your friends. The sneaky-ness of DOMS goes on; as it demotivates you to continue doing sports the next days due to your understandable self-pity, as well as trying to loure you to compensate with sugar this and that, drink or an instant gratification 'healthy bar'.

Either or, as we can establish that you will still encounter some sort of muscle pain, whether you are laying on the couch, sit in the office -without moving every hour, or come home yoga-enlightened or as a battered weekend warrior. And so, what do you do to get rid of that muscle pain? Hot shower, call your massage therapist, or chiropractor. or book a PT session in the sports club - none of this gives an immediate pain relief, as they all have booking times available sometime next week, besides the too short intermediate minutes from just after the hot shower. The pro athlete know the value of self treatment and stretching both before, during and after doing a workout or playing sports by working more diligently with some sort of muscle relief method. Mostly used is a foam roller, even they are taking up the majority of the sports bag (or suitcase) and often are too abrasive to the muscle tissue, as the athlete are usually using the full body laying on the foam roller (using the force of gravity), only to perform a perpendicular pressure to the tissue and consequently, potentially, creating as much tension as relieved.

You can do investments in your health as the athlete and even bring it a notch up if you take a peep into the possibilities of learning a self treatment method. If that notch up is you learning a method with a dedicated tool you have brought consciousness into action for your own benefit. Today IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation) tools are getting a fair share of daily attention, - and why is that? Likely because conscious consumers has discovered that the sessions with their practitioner is greatly supplemented with a IASTM tool/method, as a natural extension of the practitioners good work; voila, access to empowered self treatment and investing in your own health, creating the wealth you can't buy for money alone: Well being and Quality time.

Several studies show that patients actively engaged in their own recovery heal in half the expected time. And for the athletes: if 90% of all sports injuries happens in the first 10 min of playing sports, one better be warmed up and have a good pressure on the fluid in the tissue. Valuable investment in your own health, again.

To release fascia is a natural human behavior, as in; every case you have encountered a muscle pain, you have instinctively put a pressure with a finger to try to relief the pain or muscle tension. The method using empowered self treatment tap into this natural behavior and help you to relief your muscle pain or tension. Remember all new things are hard to do in the beginning, no matter how easy they are to perform when learned.

So, how do you find the right method that fits you in the jungle of IASTM tools? - well, find a tool with a method that is both comprehensive and easy to learn, make sure it covers as many possible treatment modalities as possible on more platforms and offers treatment protocols and is easy to carry around on you or in your handbag (that you have it available when you need it on the go). If you have a lucky punch, you will find a IASTM tool that introduce several new treatment methods without creating bruises or leave you as oily as bodybuilder just before going on stage in a competition.

And of course made in a BPA-free material that is good for contact with the skin.. like nylon - that is used for prostheses as well as sustainably have a life-time span -that you don't have to buy a new one every 6-12 months.

The results using empowered self-treatment, should be that you are preventing yourself from injuries by preparing your tissue/warming it up/getting the interstitial fluid flow up in par. If you do it during your workout or in the halftimes, it should prolong and better your performance. Used after as in right after as well as every day after until next workout, it should minimize the DOMS, thus make you feel better in your everyday life

Happy Empowered Self-Treatment
