Empower Your 2025

What would it feel like to step into 2025 with clarity and confidence? To quiet self-doubt and step boldly into a year where your voice, your choices, and your presence make a lasting impact?"

If you’ve ever felt like you’re navigating impossible expectations or searching for the balance between your work and the rest of your life, you’re not alone. This time of year, many of us are looking for something: a spark, a story, or even a single sentence that can shift our perspective and reignite our drive.

The right story at the right time can change everything. Whether you’re seeking resilience, a fresh perspective, or just a reminder of your own strength, these are the books that helped me this year, and they might just help you, too.

Stories That Inspired Me This Year

These stories gave me clarity and inspiration this year and are perfect companions for the holiday season.

  • The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom This enchanting novel is a celebration of music, love, and destiny, narrated by the personification of Music itself. Frankie’s journey from obscurity to stardom is a reminder that each of us has a unique purpose and the power to leave a lasting legacy. If you’ve ever wondered how your work or life fits into the bigger picture, this book might hold some answers. If you’re curious, you can find The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto on Amazon.
  • The Choice: Embrace the Possible by Dr. Edith Eger Dr. Eger’s memoir is a profound testament to resilience. As a Holocaust survivor turned psychologist, her insights on forgiveness, healing, and choosing possibility over fear have stayed with me long after finishing the book. It’s a powerful guide for anyone facing personal or professional challenges that seem insurmountable. Explore The Choice: Embrace the Possible on Amazon.
  • Between Two Kingdoms: A Memoir of a Life Interrupted by Suleika Jaouad Suleika’s gripping memoir takes readers through her transition from a young woman with a bright career and future to cancer patient, and ultimately to survivor on a cross-country journey. It’s a raw, honest exploration of identity, resilience, and the search for meaning, perfect for anyone navigating life’s unexpected detours. Learn more about Between Two Kingdoms on Amazon.

Which of these resonates most with where you are today? If you’ve read something this year that changed your perspective, comment and share. I’d love to hear from you!

A Thought That Challenged Me

This year, I also listened to "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Gregory Maguire. While it took time to draw me in, it offered moments of wisdom that stopped me in my tracks.

One line from the character Elphaba has lingered in my mind: “Maybe the definition of home is the place where you were never forgiven, so you may always belong there, bound by guilt. And maybe the cost of belonging is worth it.”

The front of a house with pleasant holiday decorations.

This quote stopped me in my tracks. It made me realize how much guilt, or the need for forgiveness, had shaped my idea of home and belonging. But this year I wrote a new story. I’ve let go of the guilt and embraced going home for feel connection and to give love. With that purpose in mind, I had perhaps the most joy and love filled holiday I've ever experienced. It appears that adjusting my attitude adjusted my perspective and experience. Is there a time when changing your attitude changed your situation?
