Employment Vis-a-Vis Entrepreneurship

Today I encountered a very interesting conversation with a person who approached me and wanted to start with me into my business. When he started his conversation he asked me questions like?

1. What’s the Company’s name??
2. What’s the Company’s ranking?
3. What are the products??

I was completely stoked. I was confused. I was unable to understand if the person was looking for a job opportunity or wanting to become an Entrepreneur. I took a pause, collected myself and decided to give him some clarity of thoughts on Entrepreneurship. If you want to be an Entrepreneur, remember,

1. You have to be the brand. You have to create your own identity and goodwill. Unlike an employee where you can ride on the company’s brand name & goodwill.?
2. You have to create your own ranking with your own brand power and goodwill. It’s not a job. The company’s ranking will not determine your ranking. The company would be a great success but may not be one success story in that company.?
3. You have to be ready to sell any and every product. In fact in the job too, you have no freedom to make a choice of products you have to sell, you have got to sell every product in the company’s product portfolio.?

Entrepreneurship and Employment are poles apart. One cannot become an Entrepreneur with an Employee’s mindset.?

Do I expect you to have an Entrepreneurial mindset, NO!? But, do I expect that you have the ability to differentiate between the two and are willing to develop the Entrepreneurial mindset, I hope the answer is YES, Only then think about becoming an Entrepreneur.?

These are purely my personal views by the virtue of my experience both as an Employee and as an Entrepreneur.
