Employing Provisional Psychologists

Employing Provisional Psychologists

How confident are you that you have set your Provisional Psychologists up for optimal success?

How confident are you that you have set them up in a way that they will be able to grow and flourish in their journey and their development as a clinician, but also in a way that they can be a contributing member towards your practice?

Unfortunately, I speak to a lot of practice owners who has taken on Provisionals and who then end up making the decision to let them go. The reason why they let them go is because they are running these roles at a loss.

Now, this is not good for the business and it’s even worse for the poor Provisional.

I can’t think of anything worse than starting a role as a Provisional Psychologist – a role that you are eager, excited and motivated about and are putting everything into - just for it to not work out, because the practice owner didn’t know how to properly operationalise and set up this role in a way that it doesn’t run at a loss or only breaking even.

Let’s be clear, only breaking even is also not good, because it doesn’t allow for the paw paw to hit the fan…. and in business the paw paw does hits the fan – way more often than we would like.

Some practice owners tell me that they are playing the long game, in the hope that the Provisional will stay on post full registration, allowing the business to get some return on their investment, but very often this does not happen. Why? Because people’s circumstances change - as simple as that.

Needless to say, there is a better way.

There is a way where you can take on a Provisional, not burn them out, but instead match their capacity and starting competency with what works for the business. There is a way where you can create a role where their billings can cover their salary package AND make a contribution to the payment of operating expenses.

Getting this contribution to operating expenses is essential as this is money that you need to pay your admin team, your rent, your electricity, stationery, the printer and all the other things that need to be paid for.

This is why I’ve released a brand-new and updated edition of my Provisional Psychologist Bundle.

What makes this bundle special is the fact that you get to spend 30 minutes with me in addition to all the resources that you get, so that I can actually talk to you about how you’re doing things right now and how you can tweak, review and improve it in a way that works better for the business, for the clinician and the clients.

If you’ve never employed a Provisional, but are wanting to start, well, then I can tell you how to do it right - right from the start.

Within this bundle you get the following:

- A Casual Employment Contract

- A Full-time Employment Contract

- A clearly outlined and comprehensive Provisional Psychologist Job Description

- An Excel Sheet setting out a Salary Package for a 4+2

- An Excel Sheet setting out a Salary Package for a 5+1

The Excel Sheets set out all the numbers that you need to keep in mind when you are offering somebody a role. It includes how many clients they need to see, what the session fee should be, how much to pay them.

In addition, the bundle also includes:

- A 30-minute pre-recorded training on employing Provisional Psychologists, with a number of to do’s and what not to do.

- A FAQ sheet with frequently asked questions, with answers, on this topic.

It is absolutely my mission to help you to support Provisional Psychologists to come into our industry, to come into the profession and have a really well supported and well looked after entry, whilst at the same time ensuring that you don’t have unnecessary financial pressures upon you.

So, if you want this clarity and you want the confidence that comes with supporting Provisionals in the best possible way within your private practice, then please make sure that you secure your Provisional Psychologist Bundle.

Note: I’m only making 10 of these available. The reason being that it includes a consult with me and I can only fit so many of those in over the next couple of weeks.

Lastly, please be mindful that this will be the last opportunity that you will have to get the Provisional Psychologist Bundle at this current rate. I’m actually still charging my 2021 rate from when I first released the Provisional Psych Bundle, whilst in the meantime the inclusions and hence the value has significantly increased. The next time I’m making this available, it will most certainly not be at this rate and will be at least a couple of hundred dollars dearer.

I look forward to supporting you with your Provisional Psychologist team. All you need to do is say yes to building your very own ultimate Level 5 private practice because that is the practice that can run in your absence and that is the practice that you can’t stop smiling about.
