#EmployerBranding Lessons From BAT
"Your culture is your brand" - Tony Hsieh
This post is a part of the Employer Branding Lessons series, wherein I intend to capture one enterprise at a time, to showcase how leading enterprises are building and showcasing their Employer Brand; thereby attracting, engaging and hiring passionate individuals, who are driven by the vision and mission of the enterprise.
At the outset, I would like to thank British American Tobacco, for building and showcasing its Employer Brand on LinkedIn, which today inspires other enterprises to work on defining and executing their Employer Branding strategy on Social Media. Their Content Strategy in terms of Employer Branding is simple, thoughtful, effective and impactful - "Help answer the following questions in the minds of professionals, thereby positively influencing them to take up challenging career opportunities at BAT" - (a) Why do BAT employees love working there? (b) How invested is BAT in grooming the next generation leaders? (c) Does BAT provide a Diverse & Inclusive work environment? (d) Does BAT provide for Professional Development opportunities? (e) Does BAT recognize its employees for their achievements and contributions? (f) Do BAT Leaders demonstrate Thought Leadership? (g) How cool is the workplace at BAT? and (h) Does BAT foster a culture of Social Development?
Let's jump straight into the Employer Branding Lessons from BAT -"Bring your difference and relish every challenge."
"Employees are a company's greatest asset - they're your competitive advantage. You want to attract and retain the best; provide them with encouragement, stimulus, and make them feel that they are an integral part of the company's mission." - Anne M. Mulcahy
"Tell me and I forget, teach me and I might remember, involve me and I learn" -Benjamin Franklin
"Diversity: the art of thinking independently together" - Malcolm Forbes
"The growth and development of people is the highest calling of leadership" -Harvey Samuel Firestone
"Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships" -Michael Jordan
"Leadership is the capacity to transform vision into reality" - Warren Bennis
"I don't really have an office or anything, and I like to have to move location every two hours. So I just kind of write in a park, on a bench, in the library, in a cafe, back to the library, that kind of thing." - Steve Toltz
"Successful people have a social responsibility to make the world a better place and not just take from it." - Carrie Underwood
Trust this post would have inspired you to think differently with respect to Building and Showcasing an Employer Brand. Sky is the limit when it comes to creativity, in terms of engaging updates which will resonate with your current employees and prospective employees. In today's world of Social Media, Content Strategy without ANY Engagement is of NO use and impact.
In case, you have come across other enterprises, who are attracting and engaging professionals with their Employer Brand, please do mention them in the comments section. I shall try to cover them in my subsequent Employer Branding Lessons series.
