Employer Sponsored Health Plans

With all the rhetoric about cost of living affordability, inflation and living wages how can anyone afford health insurance premiums?

Many folks have been falsely told that health insurance is more affordable now that we have the "Affordable Care Act" aka "ObamaCare".

Many people have purchased health insurance on the various ACA exchanges around the country. If your income qualifies you for a zero premium you could be paying $9,100.00 in out of pocket costs, have a limited network where you can only access care in the county you reside in!

How many people can afford $9,100.00 if they have a major medical incident?

With the end of the Public-Health Emergency many are now falling off the coffers of Medicaid. The idea was many will be enrolling nationwide into the state exchanges. As of today this hasn't happened? Many around the country are asking why the phone isn't ringing off the hook with folks seeking new health insurance options?

The answer may shock you! Many of these folks shouldn't have been on Medicaid. Many are now enrolling on their employer sponsored plans or they aren't enrolling at all.

That leaves me to question why weren't they already enrolled on these employer sponsored plans? The answer is a simple one, free healthcare, free to very low cost expenses utilizing medicaid.

With these new enrollees employers are now seeing a spike with their insurance premiums. Many of these smaller employers are also paying age banded premiums which varies from employee to employee which creates another nightmare when assessing how much employers pay and how much the employees will pay! This is the biggest dilemma facing employers and why many won't offer employer sponsored plans.

I have the perfect solution! Employers need to seek out Association health benefits. These programs can be sponsored by your local Chamber of Commerce or your Trade Association. In some cases you will receive a better premium, excellent benefit options and national access to care!

The best part of these Association Health Plans is they also may offer composite rates! You may ask, what are composite rates? I'm glad you asked! The AHP program will take all the ages of your employees and come up with an average age for all. Then your premium calculation will afford you the same cost per employee, per employee & spouse, per employee with child(ten) and a family cost. This four tier rate structure allows for easy accounting and allows the employer to pay the same amount of cost per employee.

Another forgotten benefit employees receive is the pre-tax savings on any premiums they have to pay! All employer costs are 100% tax deductible!
