EMPLOYER BRANDING

It’s a common misconception in recruitment/talent acquisition that the purpose of an external consultant is to simply source CVs. This might be how some hiring managers like it, but to be a true, external consultant, you need to bring more to the table than access to the latest job board.

Part of what we do can be classed as “Employer Branding”.

Now before we go into more detail, I know a lot of you will be thinking “corporate branding” or “company branding” and thinking that this is what people hire big teams to focus on. Well, you’re right that they do hire teams for that, but Employer Branding is very different from corporate branding.

In fact, just this week I had a prime example. I won’t mention names, but I have a client that is a mid-sized pharmaceutical company. They have a tremendous “corporate reputation”. They make headlines, they have executives with a real presence in the industry, and most people have heard of them in some way or another, despite their products not being household names.  However, their “employer reputation” is appalling. High turnover, staff leaving disgruntled and spreading the word, and people feeling that they have been lied to by the opportunities they have taken.  Where their great “corporate brand” is a sign that their marketing team are working their socks of, their poor “employer brand” is a sign that they are relying on the wrong consultancies, or just not leaning on the expertise of these professionals enough.

Employer branding can really be anything from the candidate experience through interviewing and through job hiring, but can also be things like staff retention, pay increases and reviews, and modern approaches to flexibility and staff trust. It’s a whole package, and as a recruitment consultancy, we work with candidates tirelessly who are constantly “spreading” the employer's reputation whether good or bad, so we can help your business steer clear of this through training and reporting strategy meetings.

As a firm, we help employers to create a careers page, create employment templates, brochures, get testimonials – in some cases we manage social media accounts for our client's careers page and ensure they get a top professional presence without having to focus so much on “internal” services that cost a fortune.

Employer branding, among other services offered, is one of the best ways you as an employer can save time, and protect your reputation across the industry, by hiring a professional consultancy to manage this for you, at a fraction of the price for retaining someone internally to do this job.

It also, allows our consultants to work closely with you to develop a prime brand message and giving us a deeper understanding of your culture and mission in the industry, which ultimately helps us find the true best fits for your business.
