Employer Brand, EVP and Talent Advisory

Employer Brand, EVP and Talent Advisory

Working in the consulting space as a small business is nothing new, but how I modularise and offer my services is … it is truly bespoke, hence the name!

One of the key reasons for making the leap to go out on my own, was to have the chance to partner with ambitious businesses and HR teams, who had the drive but weren’t quite sure how to go about things when it came to talent, particularly when it comes to Employer Brand and Employee Value Proposition (EVP). I explain a little more about this and me on my website.

Having worked in various in-house corporate recruitment roles across lots of industries for over 15 years (goodness that makes me feel aged), I found myself during this time becoming more and more curious about this whole thing called Employer Brand and EVP. Were they the same thing … I was confused. The more that I had exposure to these concepts theoretically and importantly operationalised through action, the greater my passion became.

To put it simply I just couldn’t get enough!?

Over the years my interest in this exciting and impactful area has only grown, to the point where I’ve completed further studies in Employer Brand and EVP and have had the chance to lead teams in the space, develop strategies and deliver some really cool things that have been recognised by my peers in industry.?

I remember not so long ago feeling overwhelmed by the thought of Employer Brand and EVP, thinking where the heck do I start in terms of introducing and evolving this in the businesses that I worked for and wishing that I had a trustworthy reputable partner to help and guide me. I remember feeling like all initiatives in the Employer Brand space had to be these large impressive, expensive and sometimes intimidating campaigns. It was perceptions and experiences like this that made me genuinely want to explore going out on my own with the sole focus of partnering with businesses who had the drive and wanted to achieve great things in a financially sustainable way without compromising impact and quality.?

With this in mind coupled with my passion and experience, I made the decision to specialise in three key areas:

1.?????? Employee Value Proposition

2.?????? Employer Brand

3.?????? Talent Advisory

For me it wasn’t enough to simply state that these were the spaces that I wanted to play in, I wanted to make them accessible to businesses who didn’t have large budgets or lots of headcount able to deliver on work … then came the decision to offer modularised services. The best way I can describe this is to simply say it is like going to a restaurant and having a menu to pick from that has fixed prices. You can order one thing, you can go three courses, it is up to you. (This seems like a natural analogy given my second biggest passion is food)!

So across EVP, Employer Brand and Talent Advisory, I offer a couple of key services:?

  • Diagnostics – this is deep research both internal and external to enable deep insights and inform
  • Creation of strategies - having a plan is critical to success and ensuring this ties back to organisational goals and values is key
  • Operationalising strategies – it is all well and good to have a strategy but you need to bring it to life through key initiatives
  • Delivery – where required I’ll roll my sleeves up and deliver the initiatives if there isn’t resource to do so

Some of the other modules available on the ‘menu’ include:

  • Creation of a 3- or 6-month employee content series, complete with social tiles
  • Review of career websites and enhancement
  • Buildout of employee referral programs
  • Review of LinkedIn Life Page/s and enhancement
  • Review of candidate/employee experience platforms such as Seek/Glassdoor and enhancement
  • Employee ambassador program creation
  • Talent community program creation
  • Sourcing channel review and recommendations

And with this my menu at Bespoke Talent Solutions was born. For a full list of modules feel free to have a browse of the website. I remember when I worked in-house and would engage suppliers from time to time and post the pitch think, I don’t need all of that now or ever some of it ever, I’d just like to pick a bit of this and that, and I’ll come back for more if needed. Importantly what I offer is simple, customisable affordable and highly impactful for businesses.

Soon I’ll be coming up to 12-months on my own (end of March 2024) and I’m still pinching myself that I’ve had the chance to do this and have been fortunate enough to be working with businesses full-time since finishing up in my Head of Talent role in Sportsbet. By far my favourite part of the last nearly 12-months has been the fabulous businesses I’ve had the chance to partner with across healthcare, non-profit, FMCG and extractive industries. During this time have had the chance to work with some truly fabulous and ambitious humans and I’ve loved nothing better than helping them achieve their audacious goals!

If you are feeling in a similar position to me previously and would like to have a chat about where you could start (and there is no pressure for that to be with me), then please reach out for a chat. I dig chatting talent any time with anyone!
