With four distinct generations in the workforce, each with its own tech preferences, finding software that satisfies everyone is challenging. But it's crucial for productivity and satisfaction.

In this edition of Capterra Tech Insider we unpack the insights from our global survey conducted by a senior analyst Brian Westfall on how aligning tech purchases with employee preferences can bridge the generational gap, enhance user adoption, and drive overall business success.

The main difference between younger and older generations is in adopting emerging technologies

As companies push to integrate emerging tech like AI into their operations, they may find older workers take longer to adapt. However, everyone agrees that embracing new tech is crucial for productivity. To assist, HR leaders and management should collaborate to identify tools less utilized by older employees. Subsequently, managers can select younger "champions" of these tools to mentor older colleagues, sharing the benefits and facilitating quicker adoption.

Regular training and support can bridge the gap

Workers of all ages say the top action businesses can take to reduce friction and bridge the technological gap between generations is to provide regular training and education programs.

When evaluating different vendors, it’s important that you educate yourself about their training materials: Their cost, how often they’re provided and updated, and in what formats. If you find the training materials lacking, assign a super user in the company to create their own—catered to the needs of your employees—and add it to your learning management system (LMS).
