Swedish pollster Kantar Sifo surveyed employees on which qualities they value most in a leader, and what they consider good leadership.
A list of the ten best managerial qualities was published in the trade pub "HR-Nytt". How do you think these differ between countries and business cultures? Would leaders in the US be more effective following this advice?
Good leaders:
It seems communication is critical to good leadership, as it figures in at least half of the items above... Looking forward to your comments!

2 年Per Ohstrom in my experience, I have had great CEO leaders such as Bill Marriott and Arne Sorenson. What they understand innately and intellectually was the power of having a vision, and constantly communicating & inspiring around that vision. That, coupled with taking care of their people (so that they take care of the customer), and making & owning the toughest decisions, made us all willing to do whatever it took to achieve that vision. This is the power and potential of true leadership to me. #leadership #peoplemakethedifference #vision

2 年Love this list, Per Ohstrom I might rank decision-making ability number one because I have seen so many leaders unable to make the very important decision to NOT do something. But communication is always paramount. If I were making this list, I would add demonstrating respect for people at all levels.
Excellent list and couldn't agree more that this applies in the US. A pithy quote I carry with me from my Jack Welch leadership training is "when you become a leader, it's no longer about you, it's about them". I think that about sums it up for those we are responsible for.
