Employee Spotlight: Vincent Bobade - Signals Engineer

Vincent Bobade provided services as the Signals Engineer Lead for Phase I of Chicago Transit Authority’s Congress Line Track Improvements. This project includes a major track renewal, renovation of Racine Station, and construction of a new substation at Morgan Street. The image below shows unlevel tracks due to poor drainage and consequently bad ballast that caused the tracks to warp.

In order to upgrade the Congress Line tracks and improve the smoothness of the train ride, drainage issues were improved which resolved issues with any tracks that were sinking. Cables were also replaced once train control systems were updated. The image below shows a corroded impedance bond due to poor drainage.

About Vincent

• Biggest Accomplishment: When Vincent started at 2IM Group in 2019, he was the only Signals Engineer within the company and began the launch of 2IM’s Train Control Systems experience. Since then, Vincent has been able to create his own team within the company and he looks forward to being able to continuously expand and grow his team as project opportunities continue to increase.
• Words of Advice:

"Be open minded. Do not be afraid to help within other areas of the industry and be confident that you can learn something new. Because I am open minded and was open about exploring more opportunities than strictly train control systems, I have expanded my experience and opened the doors to many future opportunities."

• Favorite part of working at 2IM Group: Vincent began his career working with train control systems. He enjoys that he is able to work within different disciplines and gain experience within other areas of the industry at 2IM. Vincent is involved in more than just train controls and rail signals and is now currently also involved in Chicago Department of Aviation’s Terminal Area Plan (TAP) project providing electrical services and various projects for Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
