Employee Spotlight: Vica Andriani

Employee Spotlight: Vica Andriani

A self-professed music lover, Vica Andriani is your go-to person if you want to be introduced to a variety?of music genres, from EDM, pop, Mandopop, K-pop, Acoustic, Jazz,?to?Latino—she loves them all. At work, however, she works with numbers as an Accounting Analyst in Singapore.

Vica is described by her colleagues as a dedicated employee who is always willing to help, and after two years as an Entravisioner, the 31-year-old shares her experiences, learnings, and life interests. Let's get to know Vica better, in her own words!

  1. What were your goals when you joined Entravision? My goals when I joined Entravision on July 21, 2021 was to have a better opportunity to learn and grow my career path. I have a finance background and with the new role here in accounting, I knew I would be exposed to a more macro side of accounting.Even if I had to work from home in my first few days at Entravision because it's a government requirement, I was excited to embark on the new journey!
  2. What was your first impression of the company and the team? I was warmly welcomed. I remember accessing my email 1-2 days before I officially started work and there was an introductory email about me and many replied with friendly messages to welcome me to the family. From there, I also realized that the teams were not only in Singapore; they were spread all over APAC yet they're still so friendly and made time to reply to the welcome email.

"This was during Mother's Day celebration, during which our Chief Digital, Strategy and Accountability Officer Juan Saldivar was at the office as well. It was a very enjoyable wind down session."?

  1. What personal or work challenges did you face early on as a new employee? My initial challenges?were?language and time zone differences. I work with my manager, Nacho, who is based in Barcelona and therefore we have a 6- to 7-hour time zone difference. With the team spread in different countries, I also faced challenges in language as English is not our primary language. However as time went by, we started to learn by explaining in different ways and understanding one another.

"The Accounting team when Nacho came to visit Singapore. It's great to finally break the barrier and interact with him in person, not behind the monitor."

  1. Please describe what you do at work in a day.In a day, I will usually start by checking my emails to see if there is anything that I need to take action on. Once that's done, I'll check my tasks on Monday.com, a portal where we put the monthly to-do list with the respective deadlines and?person-in-charge. I'll start to?do the task with the earliest deadline and?focus on that. Sometimes if I face issues while doing the task, I'll draft a message to Nacho to seek his advice. Sometimes I'd schedule a call to discuss the issue with him too.
  2. What company tools (like trainings, seminars) have been most valuable for you and what is your greatest learning from them?Prior to joining Entravision, I wrote down my tasks on a piece of paper and?ticked?them one by one when I finish them. Now, with Monday.com, I no longer need to be asked about the task status as it's easily accessible in the portal by my teammates with just a few clicks. I feel it is a very useful tool in keeping our tasks in check and monitor the progress within the team.
  3. What do you like most about working in Entravision? Why do you think it’s been voted as a Great Place to Work?I?like working?in Entravision as I feel that I am very appreciated as an employee.

Growing up in Asian culture, appreciation is very rare as completing your tasks is considered very basic. After two years with the Entravision team, I feel there's a lot of gratitude and appreciation here. It helps a lot in boosting my confidence and makes me feel that I'm doing the right thing. Even if there are mistakes done, the team?is?always very understanding. I believe such great culture is the reason why it's voted as a Great Place to Work. It's very rare to find a company that feels like a family.

"I received the recognition of being Q2 2023 employee of the quarter, which I really am grateful for."

  1. What for you has been your biggest achievement at work so far?I think my greatest achievement at work so far is to be able to find easier?methods?for Finance and Accounting processes and?improve the ways the team?works. We started with a lot of manual work, and it took a lot of time to finish just one task. I personally believe that it's always great to reduce that by finding more methods to simplify the work process so we can have more time in doing other tasks.
  2. What are your interests outside of work? Outside of work, I am a very basic person. I would spend the days at home most of the time, watching dramas and listening to music. Over the weekend,?other than going back to my hometown,?Batam,?Indonesia, which is a one-hour ferry ride away from Singapore,?I would spend my time playing mahjong with my cousins. I learned how to play mahjong during the pandemic and I've liked it a lot now. It's a fun activity and I get to catch up with my cousins as well.I LOVE?listening to music and my yearly Spotify minutes would be more than 90k, especially during the pandemic when I worked from home most of the time.

Can anyone beat Vica's Spotify record?

I am also on the hunt for the best butter croissant in Singapore. I recently went to Paris and challenged myself to try all the croissants there daily and it made me love croissants so much. I do not have a list of croissants I've tried (maybe I should come up with one) but so far, my favorite is from Tiong Bahru Bakery. Try it when you visit Singapore!
