Manufacturer and installer of Mobile and Fibre Telecoms Cabinets, BEMS Control Panels and Huber+Suhner UK Sales Partner
Welcome to the newest instalment of our Employee Spotlight series.
Throughout the series we are showcasing a number of our expert staff as well as career opportunities at CL Electrical.
This week we interviewed Tirath Kaur, who works as a Cabling Operative here at CL Electrical Controls.
Tell us about yourself:
I joined the company in 2020 and began working in Unit 2 as a cable maker. This is the first time I have been employed, as for most of my life I was a home maker. I have two children of school and college age who I took care of whilst my husband went out to work. I took up this position of work because I wanted to help my family, as when Covid hit, my husband was forced to stop his job as a taxi driver.
Before coming to the UK, I lived in Milan for 12 years where I was unable to work and felt very lonely and isolated. When we arrived in England, I struggled to find work, because I was unable to find a company willing to employ me due to my lack of previous work experience. Coming to CL was a great opportunity for me and I have now been employed at CL for over four years. I love my job and have formed many relationships and friendships with staff.
I am bilingual and speak three languages. In my free time, I enjoy music and walking.
Tell us about your day to day activities:
I make various types of cables, and I have to learn different ways for different specifications. The cables I make are used for control panels in building automation systems, as well as for telecommunication cabinets. Also, I make LISCA RF jumper cables, which are the only bespoke RF cables manufactured for Huber+Suhner in the UK.
What is it like to work for CL?
I like working here; I enjoy making many different types of cables. I find the staff and directors all really nice to work with and I am happy with the many friendships I have built here.
Would you recommend CL?
I would recommend working here. I would like to progress in my role and I think there are opportunities here for me to do that, so I would definitely tell others to think about working here if they were interested in our industry.
