Employee Spotlight: Stephanie King - Assistant HR Manager

What do you love most about your role at AWI?

This may sound cliché to say, but I really do love the people at AWI. I am a people person by nature. I like interacting with the employees. HR can be viewed as the enemy by employees sometimes. I make sure not to use my title or position to fuel those thoughts.

Who inspired you in your career?

I have been inspired by different people throughout my HR career. Mainly my mentors who have put in their time and effort over the years. I also have to give credit to my first HR Director. She inspired me to continue my growth and to remain humble during the process.

What kind of advice would you give someone just starting out in your field?

The best advice that I would give to someone who is just starting in the field of Human Resources is to never miss an opportunity to network. I would also encourage them to never stop learning because Human Resources is an ever-changing field. Finally, I would tell them not to forget about the “human” aspect.

What is your favorite memory at AWI?

In my short time working at AWI, I have had so many good memories. My favorite memories are the holiday luncheons when we all sit down together as coworkers and share stories about our families and the things that we are thankful for.

Can you share a fun fact about yourself?

A fun fact about myself is that I LOVE to fish. People tend to stare at me funny when I mention this because most people can't image me as the outdoorsman type.
